Transaction Oracle — A Timely Look at Transactions as They Happen Tuesday, July 10, 2007White Sox - Signed BuehrleChicago White Sox - Signed P Mark Buehrle to a 4-year, $56 million extension. What's there not to like about this? Buehrle's not a true 3.03 ERA pitcher, but the Pale Hose don't need him to be and they're not paying him like they expect him to pay. Given the market, $14 million a year for a healthy pitcher who's a good bet to put up an ERA+ of 120 every year is an excellent deal. No snark needed in a world in which Barry Zito, an inferior pitcher, gets twice the dough for twice the time. |

You'd like to see more strikeouts, of course, but Buehrle's fine otherwise, not getting super-lucky out there most years, and he's bounced back from last year's K rate.
