He's also Thome insurance I suppose and with Thome muddling along at a 101 OPS+, one wonders if he's fully healthy. Heck, due to the high OBP, that projection is a little better than what Thome's doing right now (not that I'd recommend cutting Thome loose in favor of Ward :-). Maybe extra-double-emergency "oh crap Quentin and Dye both got hit" insurance too.

For an is that even legal moment how about the outfield of Jason Giambi (LF), Patrick Lennon (CF) and Matt Stairs (RF). With Jose Canseco DHing and Geronimo Berroa available for a change of pace.
