Welcome to Count the Rings™

What is “Count the Rings™?”
Count the Rings™ is Baseball Think Factory’s new Yankee-centric blog.

Great, you arrogant jerks are going to do more to monopolize BTF?
No. This way, most of our arrogance will be confined to one space.

What can we expect from “Count the Rings™?”
Thoughtful analysis, some fanboy appreciation and general kvetching and commentary about the state of the Yankees from some of BTF’s most visible Yankee fans: Larry Mahnken, SGinATL, RBinDC, SJ and myself.

So, no “Jeter Rulz!” from you characters?
No, absolutely not. Well, maybe a little. But you’ll probably hear more about Joe Torre’s bullpen mismanagement, the lousy state of the bottom half of the roster and lots and lots of “™s.”

Your ideas intrigue me, I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
We don’t have one.

What do you think of Boston’s chances this season?
For that we’ll turn it over to our agent Drew Rosenhaus, Drew.
“Next question!”

Is anyone welcome at CTR™?
Of course, we just ask that everyone remain moderately respectful and understand that the folks who post and contribute, as well as those who comment are more than likely to be Yankee fans. Fans of other teams are more than welcome, but trolls – not so much.

All that said, welcome and we hope you all enjoy.

Myself, I like the idea of having this Yankee enclave, as that's usually what I'm interested in anyway. As someone pointed out, we all got plenty of persective from Sox Therapy folks, I don't see why this is different.

Also, big props to Jim for the redesigned stuff, I'm liking it a lot. Bravo!

In this era, players change teams like GW Bush changes his reasons for going into Iraq.

Over the past five years, take a look at some of the starters on Opening Day for the Red Sox:

3rd Base
2000- Valentin
2001- Hillenbrand
2002- Hillenbrand
2003- Hillenbrand
2004- Mueller

second base
2000- Offerman
2001- Stynes
2002- Sanchez
2003- Walker
2004- Bellhorn

first base
2000- Stanley
2001- Daubach
2002- Clark
2003- Millar
2004- Millar

According to the Depth Chart at www.RedSox.com we cannot expect the following 2004 Sox starters to be penciled into the starting lineup on Opening Day 2005:

Damon, Kapler, Bellhorn, Reese, Millar, Mueller . . . that is a lineup change in one year of 67%, and if Ramirez leaves, which is likely that is a change of 7 of 9 positions (78%). As Jerry Seinfeld said several years ago, "We are only rooting for uniforms."

I saw the EXACT SAME POST on Therapy.

This was a worthwhile post to read too.

I hope catfish copied and pasted, because it would have sucked to type it out all over agin.

If the Yankee starters are Nazgul, would that make Torre Sauron? Would Steinbrenner be Morgoth?

I saw the EXACT SAME POST on Therapy.

Yeh, he thinks we are all stupid and need to see the same post multiple times.

Bit of a tosser if you ask me.
