Based on how everyone’s hitting right now, my lineup is..

1. David DeJesus (I’m flexible with Joey Gathright here)
2. Mark Teahen
3. Alex Gordon
4. John Buck
5. Esteban German (DeJesus if Gathright at 1)
...
8. Tony Pena Jr.
9. Joey Gathright (Pena if Gathright at 1)

I like that lineup.

But what do I know?

I’m just a blogger of simple stats. I’m not a Real Baseball Man. I watch ESPN, but I’m not sure I could tell you the difference between Gor-don and Tea-hen.

FWIW, my dad's lineup:

DeJesus
Teahen
Gordon
Butler
Buck
Pena
German
Shealy
Gathright

Pena's placement is odd, but overall I like where his mind is at.

And my dad forced me to read this note from ESPN.com's fantasy notes for Billy Butler, because he said it sounded like I wrote it:
Butler reached on an error in a pinch-hitting role in Sunday's win over the Brewers.

Spin: Butler has seen only pinch-hitting duties since coming up in place of Mike Sweeney. In five days back in the bigs, he is 1-for-3 with a double. It's odd usage for a major prospect but it is not without precident in Kansas City.
I enjoyed it.

New theory on the Bradley almost-trade: Maybe the target for improvement was first base, not the outfield.

With Bradley, you shift Teahen to first base temporarily. Then you've got good hitters and defenders at all three outfield spots, and plus defense and hitting at first base.

The problem with the theory is that Teahen seems to be doing fine in right field, plus Butler is learning first, so it would be more of a temporary thing than a long term solution.

I'm not impressed with Teahen in right, then again I don't see DeJesus a a bad CF either...

I haven't seen a ball hit to DDJ CF ths year and thought" a above average Cf would have got to that ", but that's happened many times with Teahen.
Also, while I agree with Joe Poz that Teahen's a great baserunner, he looks slow in the outfield, and not in the Darin Erstad "looks slow but big strides that cover ground" way.

My Line up:

Gathright cf
German 2b
DDJ lf
Bradley rf
Teahen 1b
Butlter dh
Gordon 3b
Buck c
Pena ss

Pena, SS

While it's nice that Buck is hitting well, I hardly feel this is his true talent level, and he's played few enough games (thanks Buddy) that 'small sample size' can come into play.

Buck looks a lot better than Sweeney, Brown or (shudder) Costa in the cleanup spot.

Brazell, 1B (why not find out if he is for real?)

Great idea.

Buck looks a lot better than Sweeney, Brown or (shudder) Costa in the cleanup spot.

That would be my point to get Buck in cleanup. He's probably hitting way over his head, but with his power hitting, I think he's the best candidate for number four.

We can speculate all we want, but Buddy has Emil Brown batting cleanup again tonight. Thanks for nothing, Buddy.
