Open thread

I haven’t really posted anything major lately, and I’m still enjoying my winter break (school starts tomorrow—ugh), so I thought I’d just open up a thread for whatever purpose. I’m planning to start another Royals Roundtable soon, and I’m more than happy to take suggestions for those. Other than that, chat away if you like. (For example, the Royals signed Alex Gonzalez. That mean anything to you? Is Angel Berroa playing on an even shorter leash?) I’ll be back as soon as something happens.

Imagine my disappointment when I found out that Alex Gonzalez has a lifetime OPS+ of 78, exactly the same as Berroa. Sigh. If this means anything it probably means that the Royals think Blanco needs more seasoning down in AA even if Berroa is horrible / injured.

What's the status of Brian Anderson? Is he still in the organization, still planning on a return to baseball?

I know he was downright awful for the Royals, but he did a nice job in a couple of stints with my team (Cleveland), seems like a hell of a nice guy, and is someone I've always cheered for. I'd love to see him back in the bigs, throwing nothing but strikes...gopher balls be damned.

Last I heard, he was in the Rangers organization. He re-injured his elbow last year during a rehab stint.
We've re-signed Emil Brown to a $ 3.45 M, one-year deal. Anyone think we can dispose of Reggie Sanders?

Can we? Sure we can,

Should they? If he stinks spring training I'd cut him rather than carry him.

Will they? I doubt it.

I'd rather keep Brown and Sanders on the roster this coming year just to insure that Gordon stays in AAA as long as possible.
