Three links, open thread

I apologize for not having any posts up recently. I do plan to have that fixed soon, but until then, feel free to use this as an open thread for any type of Royals or KC or whatever stuff. Also, I’ll probably be getting up some PineTarCharts updates in, and here are a few links in case you haven’t seen them:

--The Hardball Times reviews the Soul of Baseball. (By the way, if you haven’t yet, BUY THE BOOK BUY THE BOOK BUY THE BOOK.)

--Royals Retrospective (Penned by Alex Gordon’s #1 Fan) has updated with two new top-100-Royals posts since I’ve last linked there. Check ‘em out, pronto. Double pronto. Double posthaste pronto stat.

--A few KC Star links: (1) Interesting quotes from Baird about Greinke. (2) Greinke lost two of his grandparents. (3) Interestingly, a Jason Whitlock column about race that I didn’t stop reading halfway through. Interesting take on the Imus thing.

Bonus link: Poz's blog is just amazing. It's obvious to tell from that link and others, Poz is a pretty good friend with Bill James, who I think is a big influence on Poz. And it's some of the fun tangents Joe takes that reminds me so much of James. Admittedly, I've never read any of James's annual abstracts, but the stuff I have read (predominantly, his Historical Abstract -- which is, by the way, maybe the greatest baseball book ever) is filled with very interesting observations and tangents that he's unafraid to take, even if it means a weird flow. Poz, particularly in his blog, has many of the same types of observations and tangents. I love that.

The Defense Lineups Poz is doing is highly entertaining. Keep up the great work Garth. Don't feel like you have to churn out posts all the time! You're allowed to have a life!

I just posted a few graphs over at PineTarCharts. I compared the Royals SPs to SPs around the division and compared the top five Royals to the bottom five, in terms of WPA and BRAA, among other things. Check it out.
