Bowden Begins

A quick post so that we can discuss the first Major League start of Michael Bowden, which will happen today at 7:05 against the Chicago White Sox. Chicago is 3rd in the league in run scoring and Bowden is still only 21 and just getting the hang of AAA. I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much for great results, but it will be fun to watch him go for the first of his 300 victories. Let’s hope he can keep the Red Sox close and give the team 5-6 IP.

This is better than Jim's newsblog post.

Never expected to see him up this season, but that's what 4 SP's on the DL and a demoted Buchholz will do...

I'm not all that excited.

I'm going to miss Bowden's start tonight, unfortunately, because I'm going to a Wilmington Blue Rocks game.

Last Sept I missed most of Buchholz's no hitter because I was at a Blue Rocks game.

I'm just saying...

So Project Bowden begins. But is it too soon? Should human beings even be experimenting with this kind of power? Is it hubris?

So, is Bowden better than Scott Kazmir? Or just as good? [/kevin]

So is 1k5v3L a better troll than Kevin? Or just as good?

So does Fancy Pants deserve a Primey? Or two?

Definitely better than kevin. It's not even a competition. Kevin even sucks at trolling

Reason for encouragement is his control, which was very good in AA, has been even better in AAA. IMNSHO he's been hampered by bad luck and poor run support in AAA (and some home runs).

Well, he held his own against a good lineup.

Ozzie was rather unimpressed.

By whom? Bowden, levski, kevin or FPH?

I thought he did fine. Much better than the D'backs are doing against the Dodgers.

...so I went to the game saturday night, and after the bottom of the 8th a lot of people left so I snuck down to the front row directly to the outfield side of the ChiSox' dugout. I was right behind Heidi Whatney, and I refrained from sexually harrassing her. I noticed she had a scorecard filled out, as well as a notebook with little handwritten notes (e.g. Kotsay, second game at fenway....etc etc). She hopped out of the well right after the 3rd out to (presumably) go do an on-field interview with someone.
Also, AJ Pierzysnki was watching the inning from the top step of the dugout towards my side so I get his attention and then do the scratch-my-cheek-with-my-middle-finger routine (I am very mature obviously). Then I yell at him "HEY AJ, do you have Doug Eddings on speed-dial or something? he keeps helping you out!". He looked over and just shrugged.

All that's great and all, but tell us what everyone wants to know. How is her ass?

The Red Sox claimed Virgil Vazquez from Detroit for some reason.
