Minor League Thread: Mike Jones

Mike Jones was a draft and follow guy out of Arizona Western JC who the Sox signed in 2005. He has been putting up an unremarkable record for the past few years, while being old for the levels he’s been playing at. He had a nice looking .340 .434 .432 line at Lowell before being promoted. But at age 22, that wasn’t all that great. This year, Jones has started the year on fire, hitting .412/.470/.588 at Greenville. must be a lot of fun to watch.

But still, Jones is a 23-year-old playing in A ball. And he’s a 1B, listed at 6-3, 260. He’s fun but he’s no Jeff Natale.

AZ State also has a CF/WR named Mike Jones. He was a pretty good reserve in the OF until this year and was their leading WR last fall.

And there was the former Maryland bballer Mike Jones...

So add that to the rapper and this dude and that name has a pretty good bit of success

man, i guess this means the farm must be dry given the Ellsbury and Lowrie promotions.

(also, 9 homegrown prospects have played for the team this year- which is pretty solid. and tek came up with the sox, so that'd make it 10. oki, dice-k, and pauley all also made their MLB debuts for the sox)

Don't act like you don't know the name.

and tek came up with the sox

Isn't it a bit of a stretch to call him home-grown? He only played a handful of games Pawtucket to round out his 1997 season after the Slocumb trade and was in the majors for good the following season.
