I think Hansack can be a real contributer, in the mold of Arroyo/2003, if given the opportunity.

I believe Beckett will be the best starting pitcher on the Red Sox roster this year. And I even think he will challenge Mr. Supernatural for the Cy Young. As long as he doesn't take diet advice from Schilling.

Any word on whether Beckett is starting his own blog, by the way? Maybe "38 Blisters"? j/k

The other Japanese guy, the lefty reliever, has looked pretty good. Just about all of the pitchers have had themselves real nice Springs.

Yeah, me too. He looked so terribly awful last year that it's hard to believe he could ever hit. Sort of how I feel about any reliever the Sox pick up.

Remy was going on and on about Beckett's change in the postgame I saw. I didn't actually see Beckett pitch, so I can't speak to it, but Remy was saying that Beckett was throwing the change at 83-84, which is a solid 5 mph slower than he threw it last year. That'd be a totally different pitch.

In watching Beckett, I was more impressed with the life on his fastball and the break and command on his breaking pitch. Didn't notice the change.

From the little I've seen, Crisp and Tek have been awful, and Hansen has been hideous. Otherwise, it's all good.

Yeah, three. That's what Theo said on the radio broadcast of today's game. One of them goes down when Timlin comes back. Epstein's reasoning is that KC and Seattle have some lefty hitters, plus he wants Delcarmen to get some steady work.

I would have thought it would be Delcarmen. I wonder if options were a factor.
