Defensive alignments?

Would it be posible to look at the curent deffensive alignment (1b, 2b, 3b, ss, lf, cf, rf etc.) and decide weather it is the best way to position your defeders?

Sure, it would be possible. You’d want to create ball-in-play charts and see how you’d position your fielders given that distribution to maximize the probability of turning a BIP into an out. You might find some incremental gains with different positioning. My suspicion is that you’d find - as major league teams have found - that optimal positioning is situation-dependent.

It varies a lot depending upon the batter, and somewhat on the pitcher.

Babe Ruth had over 50 base hits on bunts in his career, sometimes against big shifts like they use on some LH pull hitters nowadays.
