I’m in the very early stages of researching Chino Smith. In particular, I’m trying to track down specific references/anecdotes dealing with his time with the Lincoln Giants, any information concerning his play in Cuba and (a big IF) any obituary that may have been written about him. I have Holway’s SABR story and a couple of other references, but I’m really at a loss for Cuban League information. Any ideas?

I’d try posting your question in Chino’s thread in the Hall of Merit. A couple of amateur Negro League historians stop by there once in a while and may have some info for you (as well as other avid baseball history nuts who may have a fact or two up their sleeve).
