New York October Meet-Up
Posted: 26 September 2008 03:09 AM   [ Ignore ]

At Sparks MHS, AZ, Scoriano and myself discussed how we believed the NYC crowd should meet-up monthly. So I am starting this thread to discuss a possible October meet-up. Venues, themes, costumes are all welcome suggestions

My schedule is open almost any weeknight.  Steak again?

By the way, I’m going to Strip House tomorrow, have heard great things about it.

How about Thursday, October 30 (assuming it is not Game 7 of the WS)?

But, I digress.  54-46 was my number, jail guitar doors, right now someone else has that number.

That’s not great for me, as I’m heading to AU that weekend so I will probably be frantic at the office and at home trying to get everything under control. How about the 21st? That’s the Tuesday before the Series starts, we could do the post-mortem for the LCS and make drunkenly lively predictions for the World Series.

I could probably make that evening.

Lets get something on the calander.  I also due to the volatile market conditions, I propose Mcdonalds.

Being that I’ve not heard any objections to 10/21, shall we consider that marked on the calender? Unless I hear otherwise, I will assume that’s the day.

As for location, I was going to suggest Pizza Hut but McDonalds is good too.

I’m trying to keep that date open. Any place that takes coupons is fine with me.

Market is up 900 points! MHS is taking us all to Robert’s!

Seriously though, we should start discussing where we’d like to go. I’m looking to pinch my pennies in order to live beyond my means when I head Down Under, but I’m flexible. Anyone have thoughts?

One possibility is Keen’s. It has one of the best pub menus in town, from which you can order in the dining room, as well as the Pub Room. One of the best burgers in town, and great Scotch selections.

Second the motion on Keen’s.  Not cheap, but a nice place.  Location reasonably central as well.

Keens is good for me, I’ll endorse that. Maybe 7? Objections?

My plan is to show up at Keen’s on Tuesday 10/21 just before 7 pm.  Hope that at least a couple of you guys agree with this strategy.

Keen’s is on 36th, between 5th and 6th. Since at least three of us (myself, Ace and Scoriano) are attending I’ll consider this on, with MHS and AZ as possibles.

A good time was had by all, espcially me who got Prime Rib Hash, and I think future plans are in place. I will pass on the organizing title to someone else, at least pending my return from Down Under.
