home run or not

don’t know if this has ever happened, but. . . .

if the outfielder goes up to catch(rob)the ball and as the ball goes into the mitt, the mitt falls (with the ball in it) over the wall.

I say it’s still a home run, my son says it’s not. . . . .

Rule 6.09(h) specifies that any fair fly ball that is deflected into the stands or over the fence is fair territory is a home run. For a catch to be legal, the fielder must gain secure possession of the ball; if the glove is knocked off his hand as a result of a collision with a fence before he has gained secure possession, it is not a catch.

It’s a HR, and it has happened.
