The Challenge: Battle of the Exes is the upcoming twenty-second season of the MTV reality television game show, The Challenge, and follows Rivals. It will take place in the Dominican Republic and Iceland, with former cast members from MTV’s The Real World, Road Rules, Fresh Meat, Fresh Meat II and the Spring Break Challenge competing. A launch special, “The Pre-Game”, premiered on January 11, 2012, explaining the pasts of how the couples became exes, and the season will premiere on January 25 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

I could do without the personal drama and buffoonery on this show, but I enjoy the demanding physical challenges, the athleticism and competitiveness. As far as the exes concept, it’s a good idea, though some of these pairings seem somewhat contrived.

They called this ‘Battle of the Network Stars’ when I was a kid.
