I don’t have my Baseball Abstracts on me right now, so if anyone remembers or can look this one up, it’d be great.  I’m pretty sure it’s in the ‘88 Abstract entry for Juan Samuel where James comes up with an “extra base hit number” that is analogous to the “power/speed number”, except of course with three factors (2B, 3B, HR) rather than two.  Anyone got the formula for this?

Never mind, got it.  For the curious, it was:

((2B*3B) + (2B*HR) + (3B*HR)) / (2B + 3B + HR)
