Price looks good to start the game. 3-pitch strikeout.

Um, make that 6 pitches, 2 K's.

That's some nice defense, Toronto.

So, anyone else had planned tonight for the ballgame and now feeling a little silly and a little, you know, alone on Friday night?

Go Jays!

A little bit. It also feels really weird to be going 2 days in a row with no games at this point in the season and in the playoff hunt.

Yeah. It kind of feels like the season ended and I just didn't know it.

I suppose I don't need to worry about the prospect of "David Price: 19-time Gold Glove winner."

Bautista sucks.
   9. Dan Posted: September 24, 2011 at 12:08 AM (#3934469)
Jesus, Bautista. That was just awful. That was Red Sox base running bad.
   10. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: September 24, 2011 at 12:09 AM (#3934470)
Two related observations:

1) That's a moment where you gotta get the rundown started. You ###### up, the inning's over, so save the run.

2) Patrick Warburton had work done? You're Patrick Warburton! You were supposed to look that way.

Yikes. That's gonna leave a mark.

I'm still confused as to how Brandon Morrow isn't one of the ten best pitchers in baseball. No one gets more swings and misses, and he throws at least enough strikes.

My guess is that he's got some sort of mechanical problem when he pitches from the stretch. Morrow's been astoundingly bad with runners on.
   13. Dan Posted: September 24, 2011 at 12:18 AM (#3934474)
Either a mechanical or a focus issue with runners on, yeah. He constantly has an awful strand rate.
   14. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: September 24, 2011 at 12:20 AM (#3934475)
I figure Morrow's got to be the hottest pick in everyone's fantasy league next year.
   15. Dan Posted: September 24, 2011 at 12:22 AM (#3934477)
I dunno, I think everyone who felt clever for picking him this year will be out of patience waiting for him to put it together.

I'm just thinking, and that last Toronto inning would have been absolutely crushing if I'd been rooting the other way.

-one out
-bloop single that looked like an easy catch and the 2B lost it and outfielders didn't back him up
-error, bad throw almost caught by 2B
-ok, and line single
-error, bad throw almost caught by C, 2 runs score
-bloop single, one more run

I was going to say it would fit in the Sox collapse, but let's be honest. Maybe 3% of the runs they've given up have been cheap.

Yeah, maybe. Perhaps I'm just annoyed because that's me who felt clever.

Whew. The Red Sox may just be saved from their own awfulness by factors beyond their control/influence.

Sox go 2-4, Rays gotta go 4-1 to tie.
But there's possible NYY "lay down factor".
Good result for Daryn.
