Aramis lollygagging on base yet again. He should have been on 3rd with the bobble by the OF.

The Cubs need to make a decision on Soriano in the off-season. No way should this guy be starting anymore, $18 be damned.

Wow-Uggla almost put that ball across the street.

Ricketts was blunt during last night's game that he has trouble seeing Zambrano pitching again for the Cubs. That probably means they get rid of him and eat a ton of his remaining contract. That makes eating Soriano's contract unlikely.

Though I guess they could just spend all of that surplus cash this off-season in eating their two worst contracts.

I think they might be able to trade Z's contract for another bad one. I would say who the hell would touch Soriano and his contract, but the Angels willingly took on Vernon Wells, so who knows.

I haven't watched any of tonight's game, but seven hits, four walks and no runs. Sounds like a frustrating game.

Blake DeWitt batting second makes no sense.

I have been flipping back forth between this and the Bears game. I am not sure which is worse-the Cubs offense or the Bears offensive line.

Marlon Byrd has been quite punchless this year. He's never been a home run guy, but at a glance, he's the very definition of an "empty" .300 hitter this season.

Soriano is ####### useless.
   11. SteveM. Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:31 AM (#3906516)
I love Reed Johnson's hustle on that play. Aramis or Soriano would have only been on first.
   12. SteveM. Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:37 AM (#3906522)
This ####### offense.
   13. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:38 AM (#3906524)
These guys are masterful at racking up the base runners and having little or nothing to show for it. That's just a by product of lacking legitimate middle-of-the-order type guys (sans Ramirez, I guess).

Woody has been unbelievable the last month.

Fake rally time?
   16. SteveM. Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:53 AM (#3906539)
If the new GM gives Pena $10 million a year, I will hold a one man protest outside of Wrigley. I have seen quite enough of him.
   17. SteveM. Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:56 AM (#3906540)
And trade Byrd while you are at. In fact, every position player but Castro.
   18. SteveM. Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:56 AM (#3906541)
####### Alfonso ####### Soriano.
   19. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:57 AM (#3906542)
Well that was predictable. Six men left on base for our $18 million man.
   20. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:58 AM (#3906543)
I've already said that if the Cubs don't make a serious go at Fielder or Pujols, I might sit out 2012. With Hendry gone, I'm more optimistic they'll be players for one of them. Hendry would have cheaped out and signed Pena to a multi-year deal.
   21. SteveM. Posted: August 23, 2011 at 02:59 AM (#3906544)
I can't stand Pena's all or nothing game. And the man just cannot hit lefties.
   22. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 23, 2011 at 03:00 AM (#3906546)
He's fun when he makes good contact, but you're right. He's not the kind of guy the Cubs need right now. They're so barren in other offensive positions that they can't have a first baseman like that.

(sans Ramirez, I guess)

You guess???
