Don't look now, but guess who made BA's Prospect Hot Sheet today? Yes, our very own Mr. Pre-Existing Condition™, Reese Havens! Coming off a week in which he posted a .435/.536/.739 line in 23 ABs (5 XBHs), Havens got the write-up, which included the following:

In an alternate universe, a healthy Reese Havens might already have claimed the Mets' second base job. . . . In the real world, Havens has been notable as much for a laundry list of injuries as for his solid production whenever he's been able to get on the field. He missed the start of this season as he continued to recover from a sore side as a result of offseason rib surgery. After he returned, Havens went on the disabled list again with back problems. In past years he's also had elbow, groin, quad, hand and oblique injuries, which explains why he's yet to play 100 games in any of his four pro seasons.

It hurts just to read that; imagine what it's been like for Havens to live it. They also point out that he can flat-out hit, and that if -- tyrannosaurus-sized if -- he can ever stay healthy, he could actually get to the be the Mets' second-baseman quite soon. However, the problem is two-fold. He needs to stay healthy to get the minor-league playing experience he needs, and also just to prove he can stay on the field consistently enough for the Mets to actually count on him.

Still, this counts as a nice (small) step in the right direction: some positive news in what's been a disappointing road for a promising talent.

####, I thought this was an 8 o'clock game and tomorrow was 4. Turns out that's the Sat/Sun times. I'm going to miss nearly all of the game tonight and most of tomorrow, stupid work.

Upton is pretty good.

Damn, Gee leads the league in HBP and he only has 112 IP.
