i think it needs to be pointed out here that kyle kendrick has a 24/16/54 K/BB/IP ratio, and that the phillies' 2 hole hitter tonight, michael martinez, yeah, he has a .475 OPS coming into the game.

still think the good guys win by a touchdown.

you know, that's the second time i've heard tom mccarthy mistakenly correct chris wheeler's use of the phrase "teachable moment".

i really cannot overstate how much i despise tom mccarthy.

it must suck to be a flyball pitcher with an outfield of morrison-peterson-stanton. stanton's pretty good, but peterson doesn't have the athleticism to play in CF, and morrison doesn't have the athleticism or the instincts to play a good LF.

i think you're significantly overrating mccarthy. at least sarge roots for the phillies, mccarthy's a damn mets fan. this is just a job to mccarthy. i have no doubt he could move to kansas city to broadcast royals games, and he'd have just as strong an emotional attachment on day 1 as he has here after 4 years of broadcasting phillies game.

plus, how can you dislike a guy who was the inspiration for this wonderful track. and there's this awesome turn of phrase, too.

the guy has is just a national treasure at this point.

Steagles, when has Matthews ever told you anything that you didn't already know with all his blatherings? He's never said anything that isn't a tired cliche. He also says in 100 words what could be said in 10. Plus he has a voice made for mime. Other than that, I'm sure he's a decent human being.
