Going to the true doubleheader today. Let's win two!

Is it 3.33 AM? Sun's up already!
   3. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 07:40 PM (#3867914)
According to the Pirates' announcers, Livan has a 'straight ball', not a 'fast ball'.

Did Morse have a chance at Jones' liner?
   5. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 08:20 PM (#3867936)
I say! I've got a Garret Jones' GameDay badge for his 2 hits!
   6. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 08:22 PM (#3867939)
BTW, in (4)I was talking about the first inning hit. I see it's a highlight.

Pirates' announcers (Bob Walk and somebody) are poking fun at Michael Morse's fielding at 1b. "He's no Adam LaRoche."
   8. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 09:11 PM (#3867984)
That was a big inning, and the Nationals failed miserably. This game is going to come down to which starting pitcher gives way to the bullpen first.

Incidentally, not only is it not 3.33 am, but Brad Lincoln isn't on the mound either. Poor show from the Primer Chimp.
   10. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 09:20 PM (#3867992)
Not only the Primer Chimp is caught out here. John Lannan is one of the badge candidates on GameDay. Brad Lincoln will start the second game.

One has to say that Livan! did his job today. 7 innings for but 2 runs. Let's see if McDonald can say the same for his team.
   12. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 09:38 PM (#3868005)
And there I was, looking at Ankiel's stats and thinking what a disappointing signing he'd been.
   13. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 09:48 PM (#3868013)
And here is that last out, first up trope again. D'Arnaud was involved in a wacky play, and he leads off the 8th.
   14. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 09:55 PM (#3868021)
Well, my implied forecast of good bullpens in (8) is looking very wrong at the moment. Shame — I like Burnett.
   15. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 10:34 PM (#3868057)
This Pirates' relief pitcher looks dimly familiar.
   16. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 10:35 PM (#3868059)
And it's all up to Werth-less. Feel the burden on your shoulders, O Atlas of the Nationals?
   17. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 10:38 PM (#3868062)
It's back to the days of Nationals Goat of the Day, as Sean Burnett gets the horns.

But I got another badge, via Joel Hanrahan.
   18. fra paolo Posted: July 02, 2011 at 10:41 PM (#3868063)
Morse had a chance at that Jones' liner, but it would be a highlight-reel play, I think.
   19. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 03, 2011 at 06:10 PM (#3868362)
Lannan looked really annoyed all the time today. When he was at the plate I thought he was some exhausted 35-year-old pinch-hitter who was going to retire in three weeks.
