I got here late - did the crowd applaud or boo when Beltre came up? I'd hope for the former, but it's awkward when the other team's already scoring.

Miller is an unbelievably annoying pitcher to watch, even worse than Matsuzaka. At least Matsuzaka could pitch out of a jam or two and could throw a strike if he really had to.

I see a few guys being called up from Pawtucket after this game empties the bullpen.

That's the worst start by a Red Sox pitcher this year.

I would be much happier giving Doubront Miller's starts.

Fet 'em tomorrow guys... I'm off to play Tetris.

So much for the theory that Miller should pitch ahead of Wake. Still, Wake could probably use the 11 days rest.

Who could have guessed that Miller would be really bad as an American League starter after being really bad as a National League Starter and not good in AAA? It's a real mystery.
   10. ray james Posted: September 03, 2011 at 12:05 AM (#3915898)
No, Miller shouldn't pitch ahead of Wake. Doubront and Bowden should until Buchholz comes back.

What's weird is he just had a great start against this very team. You would think he would be thinking positive starting the game. Instead, he walks the first two guys on 10 pitches, then balks them over just to top things off.

I think he's too much of a psycho to ever be any good, his stuff notwithstanding.
   12. ray james Posted: September 03, 2011 at 12:11 AM (#3915901)
Don't tell me Bowden can't find the strike zone either.
   13. ray james Posted: September 03, 2011 at 12:12 AM (#3915902)
Anybody else thoroughly unimpressed with the pitchers the Sox have in the high minors? I'm not seeing anyone who looks like they will be ready to genuinely contribute any time soon.

He was, but the Rangers were thinking, "Oh no you won't, either." (/old Cosby)

Well, it was all on him. If he just threw a few strikes, the Rangers would have had to earn it. But all they had to do was stand there with the bat on their shoulders and let Miller put them on base and move them around.

This game really, really, really sucks.
   17. ray james Posted: September 03, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3915930)
No kidding. Worst blowout of the year.

Albers has probably pitched his way off the postseason roster, right? That's OK in my book.

As much as it looks hopeless... White flag moves (other than Wakefield) after the fifth inning? Really?
   20. karlmagnus Posted: September 03, 2011 at 01:43 AM (#3915947)
Of course, if Wake had started this game, it would have been lost by the bullpen and the total lack of offense.

Pathetic.
