Oh Lackey, you are so dependable in a way.
   2. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:08 PM (#3916657)
Actually, I'm pleased he's only given up 1 after 2 innings. Usually, he stakes the opposition to a 4-spot or more early.
   3. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:09 PM (#3916658)
I was thinking they shouldn't bunt with Jackson. But then they said he was 0-24... That's horrible. This looks like one of those games.
   4. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:11 PM (#3916660)
Wasn't Conor Jackson the guy over which Theo fired David Chadd over, for drafting David Murphy ahead of him?
   5. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:13 PM (#3916661)
He hasn't given up more than 4 runs in an entire game for a month. He usually just has trouble throwing more than 1 straight scoreless inning.

Hey, Crawford looks good. I thought it was funny that before the game they had a graphic on how "hot" he was, having hit "almost .290" in his last 12 games. 'Hey look everybody, Crawford's had a short streak where he's been nearly good!' Ugh, what a disaster he's been.
   6. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:14 PM (#3916662)
Never heard that story, Ray. Got any more info?

I do remember them liking CoJack though.
   7. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:17 PM (#3916663)
I love the way Lackey dashes any hopefullness by allowing an extra base hit to lead off the inning.
   8. Dan Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:19 PM (#3916667)
He gave up 5 runs in his last start. One was "unearned" but it was Cervelli who only scored because Lackey put him on by hitting him intentionally.

Well, the Conor Jackson era was fun.
   9. Dan Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:21 PM (#3916669)
I don't think I've ever seen a 1-5 double play before.
   10. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:24 PM (#3916671)
No matter how good he looks for one inning, it always ALWAYS goes away for a couple innings EVERY GAME.
   11. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:25 PM (#3916672)
Did I miss the mews that Heidi's pregnant?
   12. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:26 PM (#3916673)
I don't have any definitive proof, Darren. I just remember there was speculation on one of the discussion boards, maybe here, maybe SOSH, that Theo was unhappy about the 2003 draft in general and about Murphy/Jackson in particular.
   13. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:33 PM (#3916676)
Why is Jackson being substituted for?
   14. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:33 PM (#3916678)
leadoff walk!
   15. Dan Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:34 PM (#3916680)
Because he busted his ribcage running full bore into the bullpen wall in RF
   16. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:34 PM (#3916681)
*sigh*
   17. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:36 PM (#3916682)
Banged into a wall.
   18. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:46 PM (#3916687)
I'm astonished he got out of that without giving up another run.
   19. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:51 PM (#3916689)
Youk looks terrible, as does Gonzalez. How is Gonzalez hitting .340 with how bad he often looks?
   20. plink Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:55 PM (#3916693)
Well, Crawford hitting the ball 390' (for an out) is better than Crawford grounding out 4-3. So that's something.
   21. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 06:58 PM (#3916696)
How many ways can you suck?
   22. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:00 PM (#3916699)
Runner should be out. He was out of the box and that's why Gonzalez couldn't make a play. Maybe someday they'll call that.
   23. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:05 PM (#3916703)
5 IP, 2 R! Now, just don't let him stay in long enough to blow it.
   24. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:10 PM (#3916704)
Yeah, he's knocked his ERA all the way down to 5.86!
   25. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:14 PM (#3916705)
Now can we get a runner in scoring position in please?
   26. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:16 PM (#3916706)
Geeze. What a joke. Somebody convert a runner into run!
   27. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:17 PM (#3916707)
It's hard to score much when your 3/4/6 hitters are all miserable.
   28. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:20 PM (#3916709)
Does Harrison usually change the speed of his delivery so drastically from pitch to pitch? Is that even legal?
   29. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:25 PM (#3916711)
1 K, 2 BB, 1 HBP, several balls crushed around the park. Lackey looks terrible.

And now Don and Jerry are AGAIN talking about Lackey and Bedard auditioning for the #3 spot in the playoffs. How the hell can they think that?

This is typical. They should have counted their blessings and pulled him after 5. He sucks.
   30. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:30 PM (#3916715)
Geez, Tito. Don't want to bring the kid along slowly, huh?
   31. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:30 PM (#3916716)
Lackey really battled today. What a battler.
   32. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:35 PM (#3916721)
I think Lackey is Theo's worst signing. Crawford will come around, I think. But Lackey is just terrible.
   33. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:40 PM (#3916724)
Another dismal loss.
   34. ray james Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:44 PM (#3916726)
Well, that scratches Doubront for consideration for 4th starter.
   35. Darren Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:55 PM (#3916730)
So far, Lackey was decent for 1 year and horrible for another. Crawford's been horrible for his only year. Plus his deal is longer and more expensive. Advantage: Lackey.

They're the same mistake though. If they had gotten Holliday, they would have avoided both of these jokers.
   36. karlmagnus Posted: September 04, 2011 at 07:55 PM (#3916731)
And this guy is supposed to be better than Wake WHY? Bedard I grant you -- looks like a good signing; always liked him when he was at Baltimore.
   37. Dale Sams Posted: September 04, 2011 at 08:39 PM (#3916746)
Sox will be a little fortunate to play .500 ball the rest of the way, and 2 games under .500 here on out would not be surprising.

Yanks will win by 4 games
