What the #### was wrong with that pitch?
   2. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:13 PM (#3905440)
   3. Darren Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:13 PM (#3905441)
Darnell McDonald is batting 2nd. What a country!
   4. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:17 PM (#3905444)
Darnell McDonald is a ####### terrible, awful baserunner.
   5. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:20 PM (#3905446)
It's unfortunate that Darren Duffy is unhittable, or the Red Sox would have a chance with Lester pitching.
   6. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:20 PM (#3905447)
And Adrian Gonzalez's power is still completely absent.
   7. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:22 PM (#3905449)
Isn't it Danny Duffy?
   8. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:23 PM (#3905450)
Darren, Dan, it all sounds the same.
   9. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:41 PM (#3905457)
As if Greg is a more memorable name?
   10. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:42 PM (#3905458)
Is Crawford ever going to turn things around?
   11. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:44 PM (#3905459)
Did Varitek seriously just hit a triple? Or did I sustain a massive head injury at some point?
   12. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:50 PM (#3905464)
Serious question:

If Crawford has a sub-.700 OPS again by the ASB next season, what do the Red Sox do? Eat the contract and move him somewhere like Oakland? Keep playing him everyday? Platoon him with McDonald or Aviles? Bench him?
   13. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 07:55 PM (#3905465)
The Twins had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no one out and didn't manage to score.
   14. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:06 PM (#3905467)
Darnell McDonald has hit more home runs since the ASB than Gonzalez. And he plays like 2 or 3 times a week. And he's Darnell McDonald.
   15. Joel W Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:17 PM (#3905472)
That's my guy!
   16. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:18 PM (#3905473)
Crawford did something good!
   17. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:19 PM (#3905474)
Crawford now has more homers since the ASB than Gonzalez as well.
   18. Mattbert Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:23 PM (#3905478)
Now all we need is Scutaro to go yard to complete the Least Likely to Homer Today trifecta.
   19. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:24 PM (#3905479)

You forgot Adrian Gonzalez.

Is Terry determined to turn into Grady Little for the rest of the season?
   21. Joel W Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:29 PM (#3905481)
Always one step behind for Tito. This will be their downfall if it continues.
   22. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:30 PM (#3905482)
This is going to be a painful loss. And another one to blame on Francona hanging a starter out to dry.
   23. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:35 PM (#3905485)
This umpire is a ####### joke.
   24. Joel W Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:39 PM (#3905486)
Agreed. Squeezed Bard there. Fortunately Daniel Bard is too good for Tito's stupidity and the umpire's tiny strike zone.
   25. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:43 PM (#3905487)
Rays win on a walk off homer by Damon.
   26. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:55 PM (#3905489)
Damn, so close to his first home run. That was a bomb in any case.
   27. Joel W Posted: August 21, 2011 at 08:59 PM (#3905491)
A HR and a BB for CC. Crazy beans.
   28. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 09:04 PM (#3905493)
Why the frick is Bard still in for a 2nd inning with it now being a 5 run lead?
   29. Mattbert Posted: August 21, 2011 at 09:05 PM (#3905494)
Stalking ex-Sox pitching depth update:

Six home runs allowed in 19 IP for Millwood. Woof.

13/2 K/BB, though.

Only 12 pitches in his first inning, and the pen's been used a fair bit recently. Not a big deal.
   31. Mattbert Posted: August 21, 2011 at 09:13 PM (#3905497)
Reddick's average dips below .300 - hmmm.
   32. Dan Posted: August 21, 2011 at 09:15 PM (#3905498)
Not concerned. Reddick will get hot again sooner or later. His overall numbers are still quite good despite his recent struggles.

Wheeler>>Albers.
   34. Steve Balboni's Personal Trainer Posted: August 21, 2011 at 11:09 PM (#3905557)
If you were on the game thread last night, you know my near obsession with getting the Free Dan Wheeler Club going. After today's inning of 2K, perfect relief, here's his line since returning from the DL in May:

29 games, 31.2 IP, 1.42 ERA, 20 H, 5 ER, 26 Ks, 7 BBs, BA against of .177, OPS against of under .500!
   35. Austin Posted: August 21, 2011 at 11:54 PM (#3905577)
Cabrera and Francoeur both looked like they were running through molasses on Varitek's triple.
