1. Jay Seaver Posted: September 06, 2011 at 11:27 PM (#3918100)Ah, well. 6-0 after one and a half.
Hi pals.
Oh I think you can...
Saltalasmackia!
McDonaldMendoza line! When did that happen?Wasn't me
I've been calm since the end of May !!
Hugh Jordan will vouch for me on this one as he knows that only thing I am angry about is South Sydney...
The runaway winners of the 2011 underachievers award.
I just logged in for the first time this game :P
Hey, Pedroia's not hitting anymore.
Can't beat the old "It's 13-0 when I come home from working out" sensation.
Glad they let Pedroia get to 0-5 before pulling him.
It's amazing how much shinier his numbers look when he doesn't have the shocking April start like 2009 and 2010.
And they are letting Lester go up to 100 pitches or so...
After tonight, it appears Boston will be 85-56, and Tampa will be 77-64, eight games back.
If the Red Sox go 10-11 the rest of the way, Tampa will have to go 19-2 to beat them for the wild card.
If the Red Sox go friggin' 5-16 the rest of the way, Tampa still has to go 14-7 to beat the Sox for the wild card.
If Tampa sweeps all seven games remaining against the Sox, and the Red Sox split the other 14 games they have left, Tampa would STILL have to go 9-5 to win the wild card - pace better than their overall record this season through 140 games.
Not. Happening.
It's amazing how much shinier his numbers look when he doesn't have the shocking April start like 2009 and 2010.
(Also, what is it they've got against apostrophes in Canada? First Tim Hortons, now this!)
Lavarnway--fun!
Aceves farts in your general direction.
Sure, maybe the jibing goes a bit far, but c'mon, the lineup is just too good not to score at least 6 runs in eight of the next 22 games of which you win 7 at least. Since they called the Beckett thing a sprain, I'm thinking they'll be overly cautious and keep him out longer then really needs to be, Bedard will be back and heck even(sorry Teddy) Wake might give you 85 pitches of something decent and you can squeeze out another win. It's just silly to think the team will go something like 5-16. They already had that stretch, good teams rarely do a stretch like that twice in a season because then they wouldn't be a good team. And these guys are good.
This happens a lot in Canada, due to Quebec language laws. For international brands (like McDonald's), you'll often see a maple leaf instead of an apostrophe.
NESN - I laugh every time those ads call Michael Showalter a big name, and I'm someone who saw and rather liked The Baxter.
So what is the consensus, do you really think they'll go with a 4 man rotation for the playoffs or try to get it down to just Lester, Beckett and Bedard?
Of course, that's a given. You'd be hoping to win a lot of 9-7 games then and in the playoffs that won't happen.
...I know he also had an RBI double, but it's Carl Crawford.
Can you believe that Crawford and Lackey make something like $36 million this year, combined? And Bobby Jenks makes $6m. And Matsuzaka is making $10m. That's $52 million from four guys doing nothing for the team this year.
The Rays total payroll is about $42 million this year.
The Yankees still haven't started, but they have no time in their schedule to make these games up so they can't really call it.
Both seemed at the time like we didn't really need them at all - now it going to haunt us forever
#61 - Right on. That's exactly how I felt about Lackey and Crawford. Lackey felt like, "We need a pitcher, we've got the money, let's get the best pitcher on the market." I've never cared for Lackey.
Crawford was a little different, in the sense that he we needed an outfielder, and he was a pretty elite player. The problem is that he wasn't THAT elite, and everyone and their sister knows it was an overpay. Six more years of Crawford? Damn.
