Let's play three!

Well, the Red Sox are clearly a lock now.

So, when the Red Sox accumulate more runs than their opponents, how does that get scored in the standings? Do we get points? I forget.

Paps pitched 2.1 innings tonight. Do you think he'll be available tomorrow?

NOT.DEAD.YET.

A win. An honest-to-god, come-from-behind win. I almost can't believe it.

356 doesn't crack the top 10.

Can we now focus on the more likely collapse - St. Louis overtaking Atlanta?

But, congrats to the Red Sox and especially Jacoby Ellsbury, you just saved your season there.

But, side note: anyone else really worried Lester's hurt and not letting on because of the situation?
I've been worried Lester has been hurt since about June.

"I was wrong...I was wrong..I was wronnnng...the Sox can win a Lackey start...I was wrongwrong wrong"

Does happy wrong dance.

Now please win tomorrow.

That was odd. I had almost forgotten what a come-from-behind win was like.
   1113. Banta Posted: September 26, 2011 at 03:46 AM (#3937003)
An honest-to-god

Well, it was off Proctor. That cheapens it slightly.

Does Scott Proctor go back to parking cars at Yankee stadium now?

Congrats to the Sox (and especially Lackey) for a gutty win, but I kind of wish the Yanks hadn't trotted out their entire farm system for the extra innings. Looked like Swisher and Cano were the only regulars who played the whole game.

Beckett/Bedard/Lester the next three days.
O's have Britton/Hunter/Simon.

Rays go Shields/Hellickson/Price
Yankees go Hughes/Colon/TBA

All 7 pm games...

This game and this moment might win Ellsbury the MVP if the Sox hold on.

Or it might still be Verlander because everyone made up their minds last week.
   1118. robinred Posted: September 26, 2011 at 03:53 AM (#3937019)
Quite a game.

Ellsbury may have locked up MVP.

Yanks whole team going on short rest against Tampa - Sox shouldn't expect much help.
   1120. Textbook Editor Posted: September 26, 2011 at 03:55 AM (#3937022)
Showalter's gonna manage these 3 games like Games 5, 6 & 7 of the WS. If a stop can be pulled out, he will do it. But if you told me in April all we'd need to get into the playoffs was to win 2 of 3 from the Orioles at the end of the season, it would have seemed a doable task... now, though... it seems like climbing Everest.

Of course, there is always the slightest of chances that the way they won tonight loosens up things, relaxes guys, etc. and they play like they're capable of and blow the doors off the O's... we'll see.

####### Scott Proctor.

There's NO ####### excuse.

Not with Ayala and Noesi still in the pen.

Between that and the mis-cue with Nova in the 7th and the various bullshit non-decisions on the pinch-hitting front, this one's on JoeyJoeJoe.

Complete horseshit.

If the Sox thought they got a couple of gift lineups today, just wait 'til Girardi posts a REAL House Money lineup for tomorrow night's game ...

Ellsbury moved from 20th to 12th on the Red Sox single season total bases list. He passed two seasons each from Williams, Ortiz, and Nomar, and one each for Rice and Manny. Four more will move him into a tie for 10th.
