I love how Reddick rides the pine after having a great game, while Crawford gets to stay in against LHP even though he's utterly hopeless against them (last night's double off Logan notwithstanding).
   2. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 04:43 PM (#3894257)
If you really desperately want Aviles in the lineup, why not play him at SS and sit Scutaro?
   3. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 08:13 PM (#3894370)
Where did the 1-1 miss?
   4. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 08:15 PM (#3894371)
Why the hell doesn't Fox use the same camera angle in CF that NESN uses? This angle is way too far off center. It's awful. Especially with a lefty pitcher in the game.
   5. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 08:17 PM (#3894373)
McCarver just claimed Lackey throws mostly 2-seam fastballs. Does Lackey EVER throw a 2-seamer? I can't recall seeing it.
   6. The Ghost's Tryin' to Reason with Hurricane Season Posted: August 06, 2011 at 08:18 PM (#3894374)
Your first mistake was listening to McCarver.
   7. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 08:21 PM (#3894375)
Damn. That's out in a lot of parks.
   8. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 08:57 PM (#3894386)
Well how about that? Crawford with a double against the lefty. He has been going to left a lot more lately at least.
   9. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:00 PM (#3894389)
I like that bunt with Scutaro hitting.
   10. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:08 PM (#3894394)
Tough call. Pedroia may have been out, but if you need 3 looks and slo-mo to see it, the ump probably got it right.
   11. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:11 PM (#3894395)
I'm pretty certain that he was safe. Cano went diving for his right hand with the tag, and he pulled it back and got the bag with his left hand.
   12. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:14 PM (#3894396)
Yeah, but one view showed the glove *on* Pedroia's right hand, and it wasn't clear if the left hand was on the bag yet. Whatever. No more runs after that.
   13. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:18 PM (#3894399)
Pop up or K would be nice here.
   14. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:18 PM (#3894400)
Then a DP.
   15. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:23 PM (#3894402)
Alright, a HBP wasn't on the menu.

Now, a pop up or K would be nice.
   16. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:24 PM (#3894403)
That's fine, too.
   17. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:25 PM (#3894404)
I thought Chavez retired with an exploded vertebrae?
   18. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:28 PM (#3894406)
Fivel!
   19. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:28 PM (#3894407)
Or, Fievel!
   20. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:37 PM (#3894413)
Opposite field Crawford is a much better Crawford.
   21. steagles Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:37 PM (#3894414)
the phillies-giants game is going into the 7th inning. you're still in the bottom of the 4th.
   22. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:40 PM (#3894416)
The Phillies and Giants are just going through the motions playing the game. They're all meeting afterward in the parking lot for a brawl.

hope cole doesn't break a nail.
   24. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:44 PM (#3894420)
YEAH BABY!!!
   25. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:44 PM (#3894421)
ELLSBURY POWER

I hope Lackey can manage to not give this lead back in just one inning.
   26. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:44 PM (#3894422)
Ellsbury is ####### incredible.
   27. Repoz Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:46 PM (#3894423)
Jered Weaver's ERA - 1.78

C.C. Sabathia's ERA - 2. ....HOLY SHIIT WHAT HAPPENED?!
   28. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:46 PM (#3894424)
I think that's not a worry here. And, the Yankees bullpen will be in the game soon, and they aren't likely to do as well as they did last night.
   29. Cowboy Popup Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:47 PM (#3894426)
This is not what I wanted to wake up to. Gross.
   30. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:50 PM (#3894427)
Oh come the #### on Lackey. Just get through the ####### inning.
   31. Cowboy Popup Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:53 PM (#3894429)
Jeter looks so much better since the injury.

It seems like the Saturday game is always the 11-7, or 15-12 game when these two play at Fenway for the weekend.
   32. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:53 PM (#3894430)
OK, a pop up would be nice here. Or a K.
   33. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:55 PM (#3894432)
OK, that was a nice K. And another.
   34. The Ghost's Tryin' to Reason with Hurricane Season Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:56 PM (#3894434)
How about TWO K's?
   35. Cowboy Popup Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:56 PM (#3894435)
Nice job by the 3-4 hitters there.
   36. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:56 PM (#3894436)
How about THREE?
   37. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:57 PM (#3894437)
Can Lackey go 6?
   38. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:57 PM (#3894439)
Really hope that's the end of Lackey for the day.
   39. Biff, highly-regarded young guy Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:57 PM (#3894438)
Let Cervelli, Gardner, and Jeter get on base. Get outs on Granderson, Teixeira, and Cano. Yeah, that makes sense.
   40. Cowboy Popup Posted: August 06, 2011 at 09:58 PM (#3894440)
That was terrible.
   41. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:02 PM (#3894443)
No, I want Lackey to go 6 and save the bullpen. Lackey has to show he can go deeper into games. If Bedard is gonna be decent, having a decent Lackey makes them very tough (obviously). It's what I want. And a pony. And money. And no strike for Verizon. That's about it right now.
   42. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:08 PM (#3894444)
Gotta have a short leash on Lackey here.
   43. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:17 PM (#3894451)
I think they can let him take a shower.
   44. Joel W Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:18 PM (#3894452)
I'm enjoying the crap out of Crawford today.
   45. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:22 PM (#3894453)
Since May 1, Crawford was .282/.310/.444 (before today's 3-3).

That's not what they expected when signing him, but add in today and that's probably close to a 110 OPS+ since April.
   46. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:23 PM (#3894454)
Crawford had a day like this last week where he looked really good hitting the ball to left field (Sunday maybe?). So hopefully he's coming around and not trying to pull everything anymore.
   47. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:26 PM (#3894455)
Do they know anything about these players? "Aceves, who has a very good fastball, gets it up there in the mid 90s at times"
   48. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:27 PM (#3894456)
Oh yeah? Well chuck you, Farley.
   49. Mattbert Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:28 PM (#3894458)
That's not what they expected when signing him

It would be just super if there were some signs that the guy who'd learned to work 50-ish walks a season had any chance of reappearing.
   50. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:32 PM (#3894461)
That was a ####### awful attempt to turn the DP by Scutaro.
   51. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 10:54 PM (#3894464)
Teixeira owns Bard for some reason.
   52. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:04 PM (#3894466)
Haha, Buck is asleep. "Reddick steps in against Sabbathia".
   53. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:06 PM (#3894468)
I had to replay it to be sure. Buck mentioned Noesi being in the game, then in the next sentence said "Reddick bats against Sabbathia".
   54. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:06 PM (#3894469)
Great AB for Reddick here.
   55. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:08 PM (#3894471)
Reddick is "only" .306/.352/.510 since July 1. Even if he's not quite that good right now, man I like this OF for the next 4 or 5 years.

You have to try to extend Ellsbury this offseason right?
   56. Joe Bivens, Minor Genius Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:10 PM (#3894472)
Good luck.
   57. Benji Gil Gamesh Rises Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:14 PM (#3894473)
Yeah I know Joe, but seems like you may as well ask even if only to remove the "lack of respect" angle (in other words, they locked up Lester and Pedroia before they reached FA, should show a willingness to do the same for Els).
   58. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:17 PM (#3894475)
Scutaro has so many ####### dumb ABs.

Ellsbury has as many great ones though.

FTR. Sabathia 2011 vs Red Sox: 25 IP; 20 ER, 7.20 ERA
   60. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:27 PM (#3894478)
So he's John Lackey against the Red Sox?
   61. The Ghost's Tryin' to Reason with Hurricane Season Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:37 PM (#3894480)
Is Wheeler always this exciting to watch (in a bad way)?
   62. Fancy Pants Handles lap changes with class Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:40 PM (#3894481)
Is Wheeler always this exciting to watch (in a bad way)?

Far too often anyway.
   63. Dan Posted: August 06, 2011 at 11:43 PM (#3894482)
Wheeler has been pretty good since he's been off the DL actually. But he should never face lefties in an important spot.
