Some nice defense behind Buchholz in tht first inning.

The Mariners are now ahead of the Sox in the WC standings. Sox have a legitimate shot at a really good draft pick, which just feels incredibly weird.

I mean, who would have ever expected a $180M payroll team to be in line for a top 10 draft pick? Kind of funny that the new weighted bonus pool might actually benefit a large market team like this in just its second year of existence.

What is the point of playing guys like Ross and Podsednik over Kalish when the season is already effectively over?

There would at least be SOME reason to watch this team if they'd play some interesting young guys instead of boring old mediocrities. Ross is a fine platoon player but he doesn't need to be playing everyday in RF, and Podsednik should be a 5th OF / pinch runner.

I think well start seeing the kids after the west coast trip.

I'm probably insane but honestly I'd like to see them just stick Bogaerts at SS for September and see what happens.

I think there's some kind of book out on Morales because these guys are not swinging at anything close and are absolutely swinging from the heels on everything in the zone.

Poor Morales, typical Red Sox. Grounder to 3rd results in a non-out.

(I originally came here to ask about what Pods is doing on this team but that's already being covered.)

Not sure why they needed to take out Morales after he got out #3. Seems a bit quick. Good looking inning though.

I switched to Rays - A's when they pulled Morales, but I see it's now 7-6 with Mortensen failing to get an out.

If the team keeps playing THIS badly, they can't keep Valentine, can they?

ALso, why are we still in yesterday's thread?
