Not much chance they'll get this game in.
   2. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 29, 2009 at 10:57 PM (#3308767)
Wakefield's next start cancelled due to back injury, Lester pushed back to Tuesday and while no official word on yesterday's starter Paul Byrd's start in Pawtucket has been cancelled.
   3. Curse of the Graffanino (dfan) Posted: August 29, 2009 at 11:03 PM (#3308769)
Wow, I guess I was wrong. It's going to be a slippery outfield; it's been raining steadily since last night.
   4. Good cripple hitter Posted: August 29, 2009 at 11:13 PM (#3308775)
I hate this team. Jose Bautista (.202/.345/.227 vs RHP) is batting leadoff, and I'm not sure there's anyone else in the lineup who should replace him. Add in Millar, McDonald, and Chavez all starting, and I really don't wanna watch this one.
   5. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 29, 2009 at 11:19 PM (#3308779)
dfan - The way the weather has been today I can't believe they are playing. I hope no one gets hurt.
   6. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 12:01 AM (#3308796)
That Pedroia base running #### up and the squander last inning has me fuming already - Romero has nothing
   7. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3308798)
I'm with ya' Phil, this is the reverse of last night's game. We should be way ahead but it's just 1-0. Hate to blow this one.

Joey Gathright?
   8. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 12:07 AM (#3308801)
Gathright - speed on the base paths in September as the rosters expand???
   9. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 12:08 AM (#3308802)
That's all I can surmise. Makes some sense. Assuming the PTBNL is no better than I am it's a nice little acquisition.
   10. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 12:10 AM (#3308804)
Another epic squander on the way I think
   11. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 12:15 AM (#3308805)
For cryin' out loud.
   12. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 12:35 AM (#3308809)
This is just annoying the crap out of me. Is it my imagination of have the last ten days played out where either Boston wins and Tampa/Texas lose or Boston loses and Tampa/Texas win? Tampa won today, Texas is winning, it's preordained.
   13. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:08 AM (#3308826)
They better score a run here - or else
   14. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:08 AM (#3308827)
oh yeah - and Clay has given up one hit - that wasn't a damn hit
   15. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:09 AM (#3308828)
One run game - tight - stress levels are high so....lets do the wave...jesus
   16. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3308831)
The wave is important. How else can you demonstrate the ability to stand up, then, less than a second later, sit back down?
   17. Marcel Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:14 AM (#3308833)
Thank god Buccholz has decided that today would be a good day to actually be as good as he's supposed to be.
   18. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:15 AM (#3308834)
Alex Gonzalez, five tool player. This week, HR, RBI 1B, good defense, great throw on relay last night and I can only he assume he ran fast somewhere along the line.
   19. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:16 AM (#3308836)
hehe

I hate the wave hate it - annoying on tv to watch and worse at the game - I always assumed the joke died after they used it in the Naked Gun

Oh yeah - and now Wake's back is gone - this is part of why I don't dig his presence - he is 90 years old and is a sure thing to be hurt
   20. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:20 AM (#3308838)
I really hate the Comcast commercials that act like a person is an idiot if they have Verizon and there really isn't a much more condescending website than "getallthefacts.com."

Speaking as someone who used to have Comcast and now has Verizon, I have all the facts I need and it is my opinion that Verizon is roughly eleventy billion times better than Comcast. More channels, more reliable internet service, lower price.
   21. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:21 AM (#3308839)
I'm not sayingt anything abuot Clay yet - except Millar was out on teh only 'hit'
   22. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3308843)
Have I ####### about Demarlo Hale lately? WHY does he feel the need to be right on top of third base to wave runners? If he's halfway down the line like he's supposed to be he's able to help Drew rather than JD having to make the call on his own there.
   23. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:26 AM (#3308845)
take the 3-1 baby
   24. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:28 AM (#3308846)
The 1-0 is going to be a cookie, rip it.
   25. Phil Coorey. Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:29 AM (#3308848)
I'm happy with two runs after the earlier fiascos

Long break for Clay - keep the first pitch strikes up mate
   26. Answer Guy Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:30 AM (#3308849)
OK, at least they got runs there. Still, how many stranded runners is that now?
   27. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:32 AM (#3308851)
Ten LOB
   28. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:33 AM (#3308853)
Well...feel better about that aspect of it Phil?
   29. IronChef Chris Wok Posted: August 30, 2009 at 01:58 AM (#3308873)
Hey boys
   30. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3308875)
Hey hey. Been watching? Buchholz has been tremendous so far.
   31. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:03 AM (#3308877)
Second straight night Jacoby has hit one out there.
   32. Marcel Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:14 AM (#3308880)
WTF Tito? Let the kid finish it
   33. Darren Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:15 AM (#3308882)
WTF, Marcel? The score is not 10-0. He should have been lifted after 7 or 8 anyway. But Tito never, ever, ever, ever, learns.
   34. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:17 AM (#3308883)
Why lift him after 7? 84 pitches, cruising along.
   35. Answer Guy Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:18 AM (#3308884)
No. No. Please end this damn game now, Oki.
   36. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:19 AM (#3308885)
This is very bad.
   37. Marcel Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:19 AM (#3308886)
He was absolutely cruising Darren. It's not like when he leaves Beckett in for an extra inning when he clearly has nothing. The Jays haven't been able to touch Buccholz all night and his pitch count was still pretty manageable.
   38. Answer Guy Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:20 AM (#3308887)
This is not ####### happening.
   39. Darren Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:21 AM (#3308888)
Why lift him after 7? 84 pitches, cruising along.

25 years old. Has confidence problems. Has been a mediocre pitcher this year. Get him out having had a good game. Bring in your relief.

Of course, I say this as someone who hasn't seen any games or followed the team for the past week.
   40. Answer Guy Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:22 AM (#3308890)
Ugh, Wells...another Red Sox killer, bloated contract notwithstanding. Eek.
   41. Darren Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:23 AM (#3308891)
The fact is he left him in until he created a situation for the reliever to work out of, which is what Francona always does.
   42. IronChef Chris Wok Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:23 AM (#3308892)
This is not good
   43. Darren Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:23 AM (#3308893)
Cowboy STF Up, please?
   44. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:25 AM (#3308895)
That's a nice one.
   45. Answer Guy Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:26 AM (#3308896)
Papelbon has looked quite a bit better the last couple months than he did early in the season.
   46. Answer Guy Posted: August 30, 2009 at 02:28 AM (#3308899)
Win is a win.
   47. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: August 30, 2009 at 03:08 AM (#3308917)
25 years old. Has confidence problems. Has been a mediocre pitcher this year. Get him out having had a good game. Bring in your relief.

Or, let him keep going since he's cruising and build his confidence even more. I can see taking him out after 8, but after 7 would have been ridiculous.
