The scrapheap experiment isn't off to such a hot start.

This is making the Yu Darvish debut last night look like child's play.

I now know the hopeless feelings Mets fans have all the time. We really stink.

Will wonders never cease? Soriano came through with men on base.

I find it a little disconcerting that we have already seen LaHair in a platoon with Baker. It would be nice if they let play and see it he can hit lefties.

Actually, playing sound fundamental baseball and not getting blown out every game is about all I can ask for from this team.

Sean Marshall is on in the 9th against the Cards in a non-save situation. Looks nasty, as he did on Opening Day.

I still for the life of me can't understand that trade, especially since Marshall signed an extension with the Reds that was team friendly.

I don't know, Torres is athletic and Travis Wood's star hadn't dimmed that much... I do attend to agree though - not so much because I desperately wanted to keep Marshall, but more because teams always seem a lot more willing to do stupid things to acquire a top notch reliever, especially a lefty who can quite capably get right-handers out, too, in July than they do in the offseason.

In short, trading Marshall was fine - I just would have waited until you could really raid someone rather than getting a slightly dimmed LHP prospect and a couple young, athletic OFs. Maybe in the end, Sappelt/Wood/Torres is still the best you get, but I have a hard time believing it's the best possible deal if they wait till July... heck... they could have just waited until Madson got hurt. I guess Marshall could always get hurt, too.
