Jeff Baker in, Ryan Freel out. Baker can play 2nd, I don't remember if Freel can.
   2. Sweet Posted: July 02, 2009 at 07:05 PM (#3240625)
Baker was born in Bad Kissagen, West Germany. I'm not saying "Bad Kisser" *must* be his nickname, but it's gotta be in the running, right?
   3. FBI Regional Bureau Chief GORDON COLE!!! Posted: July 02, 2009 at 10:31 PM (#3240943)
I know we're under .500, but this is a big series, so #### it:

Pedal to the metal.
   4. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 02, 2009 at 11:13 PM (#3240979)
Our pal Bobby Howry served up the game-winning homer against the Cards last night.
   5. SteveM. Posted: July 02, 2009 at 11:50 PM (#3241004)
I have been on the road for the last week, one more day to go. The fact I missed having to watch the meltdown on the South Side was a plus. A sweep (however unlikely) would be nice to get us back into contention. I read on Rotoworld Fonzie was to sit again tonight.
   6. retro-shiite Posted: July 02, 2009 at 11:54 PM (#3241010)
Fuld is in the lineup again. So is Soriano officially injured, or is Lou just riding the hot (or not ice-cold) hand?

Yeah, I was watching that with Howry. Right after Sandoval dropped a foul popup for an error, Rasmus goes yard.
   7. retro-shiite Posted: July 02, 2009 at 11:56 PM (#3241011)
Oh, and Gordon, I couldn't've said it better myself.
   8. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:21 AM (#3241024)
I like Derrek Lee.

He hits home runs for the Cubs.
   9. meatwad Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:28 AM (#3241029)
nice start to a huge series. i saw the end of the cards game last night, i just knew he was going to serve up a tater that inning
   10. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:29 AM (#3241030)
I like Jake Fox.

He hits home runs for the Cubs.
   11. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:32 AM (#3241032)
McClung privately b#tched and moaned for a starting shot when Manny was struggling.

Cripes....
   12. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:33 AM (#3241033)
Prince Fielder is fat.
   13. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:34 AM (#3241034)
A good throw probably gets him there.

Jake Fox murdered that ball. Nice to see Lee supplying the power.
   14. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:34 AM (#3241035)
Yeah, #### you Casey.
   15. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:35 AM (#3241037)
Dempster, you dick
   16. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:36 AM (#3241038)
Dempster has a career ERA against the Crew of 2.78.
   17. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:36 AM (#3241039)
Dempster isn't very good this season. Not that it's of much surprise to anyone other than Jim Hendry.
   18. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:37 AM (#3241041)
What is with all the insults and invective?
   19. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:39 AM (#3241042)
I was really angry about the McGehee rostering last year, so I've decided to develop a burning hatred for him. Prince Fielder is fat, and I was hoping Dempster would make this game stress-free.
   20. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3241045)
Macha got s#cked in by a hot streak. Casey's time is likely already done
   21. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:43 AM (#3241046)
The Cubs have been victim to some damn circus catches the last few weeks.
   22. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:52 AM (#3241052)
Well, Cameron makes that catch routinely 95% of the time. Just annoying that the one time he misplays it, he still catches it.
   23. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:56 AM (#3241053)
Mike's defense is still wonderful but he is THIIIIISSSS close to not having the bat speed to stay in the league
   24. meatwad Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:56 AM (#3241054)
mclung at 56 pitches after 2. it would be great to get into the pen earily tonight with 3 more games comming up
   25. meatwad Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:03 AM (#3241056)
75 through 3
   26. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:03 AM (#3241057)
Harv, it seems players' defense just doesn't hold up to the age Cameron's at much these days(36) Was it much different back in the day? I know about Willie Mays wandering around Shea's CF aimlessly, but that was at the age of 42. I'm just wondering if the increased muscle mass is causing defense to drop off at an earlier age, or if it's always been like this.
   27. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:04 AM (#3241058)
I believe Len said McClung would be on a ~80 pitch pitch count.
   28. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:06 AM (#3241060)
Macha doesn't rush to the pen. Given what a pain in the #ss Seth has been about starting I would leave the lug in there until his #ss is dragging
   29. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:09 AM (#3241061)
Dempster consistently throwing strikes is a pleasant change.
   30. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3241062)
How in the hell is Theriot grading out so well in UZR?
   31. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:13 AM (#3241063)
I like Geovany Soto.

He hits home runs for the Cubs.
   32. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:18 AM (#3241066)
Sam Fuld is listed as being 5'10". Yeah, right.
   33. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:20 AM (#3241068)
Does the measurement count his hair?
   34. Moses Taylor lost his pants to a pair of nines Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:21 AM (#3241069)
I think dempster gets a huge pass for that tough start this season. He's been better, but not great yet. Still an overpay, but he'd be the 2nd best pitcher on the brewers.
   35. meatwad Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3241070)
LEE!!!
   36. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3241071)
I like Derrek Lee.

He hits home runs for the Cubs.
   37. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:25 AM (#3241074)
2008 Lee would've grounded into a doubleplay on that pitch.
   38. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:26 AM (#3241075)
Jeez, and even after that, the fans are still booing Milton.
   39. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:26 AM (#3241076)
I'd say Lee got all of that one.
   40. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:27 AM (#3241080)
I don't remember the last time he hit one like that.
   41. Arnett Mead (Arjun) Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:28 AM (#3241081)
Derrek Lee has been really fun to watch for a lot of this year. I like that.

Also, good to see Soto hit another home run. Seems like he's back (or close to it), too.
   42. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:29 AM (#3241082)
Pretty sorry effort.

Guys have been able to hold onto defense for some time. Meaning that if you could REALLY play at 25 you could still play at 35.
   43. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:32 AM (#3241085)
Well, the Brewers pitching has been really awful in this game, Harvey. The Cubs are getting batting practice pitches. It's nice to see them cash in on it for once, but that's the problem in this game.
   44. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:32 AM (#3241086)
Haha, what was that?
   45. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:33 AM (#3241088)
Also, good to see Soto hit another home run. Seems like he's back (or close to it), too.

Soto's been driving the ball, even when making outs, for three or four weeks now. Great to see.
   46. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3241089)
Soto's been back:

.269/.356/590 from June on.
   47. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3241090)
And now Dempster decides to walk a pitcher. I wonder how many pitchers he's walked this season.
   48. Arnett Mead (Arjun) Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3241091)
Ohno. Dempster is in "I-will-walk-everyone" mode again.
   49. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3241092)
I wrote before the season Milwaukee would have to win games 9-6 a la the 1982 team.

The offense right now is 2 guys. Won't work
   50. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:36 AM (#3241093)
Come on, Dempster.
   51. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3241100)
So here's what concerns me. You've got Aramis, Gooz, and Reed coming back shortly. Who's going down?

Are they really going to send down Fox knowing that Ramirez isn't fully healthy? Will somebody run over David Patton in their car, and they mercifully go to 11 pitchers?
   52. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:48 AM (#3241104)
How'd it get burned?? How'd it get burned!!!??
   53. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:52 AM (#3241106)
One thing's for sure. Cecil Fielder has no reason to doubt his paternity.
   54. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:10 AM (#3241115)
The CSN crew is channeling Arne Harris with the Hot Chick cam tonight.
   55. Andere Richtingen Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:17 AM (#3241118)
Good job there from Sean Marshall. I was just thinking about how good a time it was for him to come in.
   56. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:17 AM (#3241119)
Sucks that he keeps getting shuttled to the pen, but Marshall has been really good. It'd be nice if Lou let him stay in to face a righty or 2 every so often.
   57. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:22 AM (#3241122)
I should clarify, sucks for Marshall that he keeps getting shuttled to the pen,(or for Steve Trachsel) but for Randy Wells, I guess that's working out so far.
   58. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:25 AM (#3241124)
It's not even so much the hot chick cam, so much as the giant rack cam.
   59. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:29 AM (#3241126)
Like today. When Marshall threw 4 pitches.
   60. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:30 AM (#3241128)
Marshall is no worse a bet in this inning than Heillman. I wish Lou would stop using Marshall for single batters. It's an utter waste.
   61. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:34 AM (#3241130)
Now don't compound your stupidity here and bring in the wildest pitcher in the pen for the 9th.
   62. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:40 AM (#3241135)
I didn't realize Cotts underwent Tommy J. surgery. That came out of nowhere.
   63. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:43 AM (#3241138)
I'm convinced there's no reason to have David Patton on the roster. If this isn't the type of game he gets work in, then when?
   64. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:49 AM (#3241140)
David Patton has not come in with a lead since his first appearance of the season.

Getting Gregg warmed up is really really stupid too.
   65. SouthSideRyan Posted: July 03, 2009 at 02:49 AM (#3241141)
Love ending it on McGehee.
