Hmmm, maybe the Primer Chimp was in a 24-hour coma or something. Since the Phillies aren't playing today, we'll use this one for the Nationals-Brewers game.

Nationals (58-39) @ Brewers (44-53)

WSH: Jackson (5-6, 3.73 ERA)
MIL: Gallardo (8-7, 3.72 ERA)

Interestingly, these Brewers look remarkably similar to the Mets: a super-duperstar position player, a couple of good starters, a whole bunch of "bleh", and a horrendous bullpen. Let's see what happens!

As always with E.J., the first inning is absolutely critical. Let's see how he does.

Outstanding start!

Lombo clears 'em!!

WTF is going on with the Primer Chimp? Why are we holding the gamechat on a Brewers/Phils thread?
   8. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 26, 2012 at 08:54 PM (#4193157)
Maybe the Chimp's post got stuck in a weird Internet time lag or something. :)

Tony Plush: still the most up and down, wildly unpredictable player in baseball.

Way to get out of the jam, E-Jax.

Jackson isn't just a pitcher, he's an amazing athlete. That was beautiful baserunning and an absolutely perfect slide.

Yovanni Gallardo's body language is actually making me feel bad for him. He seems so depressed.

The Chimp needs to be relegated to a lower website.
   14. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 26, 2012 at 09:52 PM (#4193226)
They're going to make Gallardo keep going? That bullpen must be truly fried.
   15. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 26, 2012 at 09:59 PM (#4193235)
Nope, it's a new guy making his ML debut.
   16. Esoteric Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:09 PM (#4193247)
How many innings for Jackson tonight? He's the one starter who Davey doesn't have to be too gentle with -- I could see him pitching a CG here and giving the bullpen a night off if he stays out of trouble.

Shouldn't have opened my big yap.

Two straight gorgeous defensive plays by Steve Lombardozzi. Quietly he's put together a very nice little rookie season. Not bad for someone who was, essentially, a non-prospect.

I have this funny feeling we might see Rodriguez again tonight. And if he can't throw strikes, it might be the last time we see him for a while.
   20. Esoteric Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:57 PM (#4193298)
Oh, Henry.
   21. Esoteric Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:58 PM (#4193300)
To be fair, Rodriguez is absolutely not getting low strike calls here. Gameday shows at least three of his "balls" as being solidly in the lower edge of the strike zone.
   22. Esoteric Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:59 PM (#4193301)
Well, then. So much for the shutout.
   23. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:59 PM (#4193302)
Seriously, just send this bastard down to the minors, and don't bring him back up here until he learns how to pitch.
   24. Esoteric Posted: July 26, 2012 at 11:00 PM (#4193304)
Alright, NOW Rodriguez is authentically falling apart.

Well, at least it won't be hard to figure out how to clear a roster spot for Jayson Werth at the end of the week.

They're out of options on him. They'll have to DFA him and hope he passes through waivers if they want to get him to AAA.
   26. Joey B.: posting for the kids of northeast Ohio Posted: July 26, 2012 at 11:04 PM (#4193309)
Great. I guess we're just going to have to waste a roster spot, and bury him on the bench except for games like this one.

It's quite possible that they just DFA him and let the chips fall where they may.

Tied for the best record in baseball, and twenty games over .500 in D.C. for the first time since 1945??

If this is all a dream, don't ever wake me up!
