Collins MUST leave Johan in. Pitch count be damned.
   2. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 08:56 PM (#4145660)

- silence -
   3. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 08:58 PM (#4145661)
I mean, they are ahead by 5! Collins does know Mets' history, right? Right?
   4. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 08:59 PM (#4145662)
See, Baxter just gave his body! You want it to be in vain, Collins?
   5. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:01 PM (#4145665)
I think he dislocated his shoulder. That's my guess.
   6. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:01 PM (#4145666)
Yeah, I got that impression too.
   7. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:03 PM (#4145667)
I would be shocked if they don't let him back out for the next inning. Someone will shoot Collins.
   8. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:04 PM (#4145668)
Seriously, throw 68 mph fastballs up there in the 9th, see if he gets some outs.
   9. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:09 PM (#4145672)
I am disappointed by our lack of chatterers.
   10. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:11 PM (#4145674)
I would be shocked if they don't let him back out for the next inning. Someone will shoot Collins.

Lassus, you don't have a gun with you right now, right? Right?
   11. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:12 PM (#4145675)
I blame it being a Friday night for the lack of chatterers. Always seems to happen.
   12. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:14 PM (#4145679)
I predict 120/125 through 8 and then I have no ####### clue what's going to happen.
   13. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:15 PM (#4145681)
Guys, this game is nuts.

Collins MUST leave Johan in. Pitch count be damned.

Seriously. If Santana wants to risk it, it should damn well happen. It's a good risk for the good of the franchise. This season and next are not likely to actually matter, despite the Mets good play thus far. Losing Santana for substantial time would be a trade-off for a no hitter that I think most fans would take. And like I said, if Santana wants it...
   14. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:16 PM (#4145685)
As the lead gets bigger, the larger the outrage that will happen if Collins takes him out.
   15. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:16 PM (#4145686)
I can't even watch this right now. Just skip to the top of the eighth.
   16. The Wilpons Must Go (Tom D) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:17 PM (#4145688)
This would seem to be as good a time as any to make a rare Game Chatter vist.
   17. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:17 PM (#4145689)
This inning is going to be close to having Santana bat again. I was hoping Wright would get a hit there.
   18. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:18 PM (#4145691)
Collins must have been rooting for a Cardinals hit in that last inning.
   19. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:20 PM (#4145695)
What's the Daily News headline tomorrow if Collins takes him out and the bullpen blows it?
   20. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:21 PM (#4145697)
I'd pay some pretty good money right now if I could buy Santana a five pitch inning.
   21. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:21 PM (#4145698)
You know someone told Ike to swing at everything to end the inning, he sucks anyhow.
   22. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:21 PM (#4145699)
What's the Daily News headline tomorrow if Collins takes him out and the bullpen blows it?

SANTANOOOOOOOO!

That actually can be the headline no matter what.
   23. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:22 PM (#4145700)
What's the Daily News headline tomorrow if Collins takes him out and the bullpen blows it?

No No No?
   24. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:23 PM (#4145702)
...that was interesting.
   25. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:23 PM (#4145703)
This game is fascinating, by the way. The Beltran double that wasn't, the Baxter catch, the pitch count...
   26. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:24 PM (#4145704)
There was a blown fair-foul call that would have been a Cards hit earlier.
   27. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:24 PM (#4145705)
I yelled at Quitanilla there.
   28. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:25 PM (#4145706)
After the game, Collins will slip five bucks to Matheny and Robinson for taking this time up.
   29. The District Attorney Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:26 PM (#4145707)
Now the guys who can hit...
   30. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:27 PM (#4145708)
Man, I'm dying here.
   31. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:27 PM (#4145709)
THROW STRIKES
   32. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:28 PM (#4145710)
OK, that high ball did not look good.
   33. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:28 PM (#4145711)
Beltran. Of course Beltran. Uh oh, here comes Terry.
   34. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:28 PM (#4145712)
Collins, you're a good man.
   35. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:28 PM (#4145713)
Johan probably told him something like: "If looks could kill you'd be dead right now, skip."
   36. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:29 PM (#4145715)
This is hurting my brain.
   37. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4145716)
This is insane. Truly.
   38. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4145717)
WHAT HAPPENS NOW
   39. The Wilpons Must Go (Tom D) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:31 PM (#4145718)
My eye is twitching.
   40. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:31 PM (#4145719)
It's like this for Collins: Leave him in unless he gives up a hit or starts walking the bases loaded.
StrikeZone just showed the fair-foul call that should have been a Beltran hit.
   41. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:32 PM (#4145722)

SNY had a picture of the mark on the field. It was clear. Half of the ball hit the chalk.

SNY had a picture of the mark on the field. It was clear. Half of the ball hit the chalk.

Oh, yeah, totally. It was a hit. Hits chalk, it's a hit. This will, of course, be relegated to a footnote if he does it.
   43. The Wilpons Must Go (Tom D) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:34 PM (#4145725)
Oh well.
   44. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:36 PM (#4145727)
This still feels real to me.
   45. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:37 PM (#4145729)
This Cardinals pitcher looks like that one who had six fingers.
   46. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:38 PM (#4145730)
This Cardinals pitcher looks like that one who had six fingers.

Ah, what was his name.... it's on the tip of my tongue.
   47. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4145731)
It was clear. Half of the ball hit the chalk.

So, Collins takes Santana out in the 9th, saying it wasn't a legitimate no-hitter anyhow?
   48. JJ1986 Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4145732)
Antonio Alfonseca

It's his loophole!
   50. Yonder Alonso in misguided trousers (cardinal) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:39 PM (#4145734)
If Collins wants things thrown at him, maybe.
   51. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:40 PM (#4145737)
Antonio Alfonseca

That's it!
   52. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:40 PM (#4145739)
Santana is not even going to bother pretending to swing.
   53. villageidiom Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:40 PM (#4145740)
Wow. Game update on Boston/Toronto just mentioned that... this is... uh... an interesting game. And one of the few benefits of Hartford is three baseball teams' RSNs we get in basic cable.
   54. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4145742)
If I'm Santana, I swing at the air above me so I strike out here no matter what.
   55. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4145743)
That was the most entertaining AB I've seen all year.
   56. Yonder Alonso in misguided trousers (cardinal) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4145744)
I can barely think straight right now with this game.
   57. The District Attorney Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4145745)
Maikel Cleto, if that is his real name, not exactly impressing me there.
   58. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4145747)
Biggest applause for a home strikeout ever!
   59. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4145748)
No commercial. Nice!
   60. The District Attorney Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4145749)
First pitch?????
   61. The Wilpons Must Go (Tom D) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4145750)
No commercials between innings
   62. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4145751)
Holliday, Craig and Freese. If Johan gets it, he's definitely going to earn it.
   63. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:43 PM (#4145753)
Like I said I'm dying.
   64. Yonder Alonso in misguided trousers (cardinal) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:44 PM (#4145754)
Thanks for swinging at that first pitch, Holliday.
   65. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:44 PM (#4145755)
Wow.
   66. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:44 PM (#4145757)
Its on!
   67. villageidiom Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:44 PM (#4145758)
He almost overran that one.
   68. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:45 PM (#4145761)
I'm not a Mets fan, but I'm a Johan fan. This is killing me.
   69. The District Attorney Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:46 PM (#4145762)
Rose pointing out Duda still in... DON'T HIT IT TO RIGHT

   72. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:46 PM (#4145766)
HOLYFUCKINGSHIT

   74. JJ1986 Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:47 PM (#4145770)
God, not Molina, please.
   75. Lassus Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:48 PM (#4145771)
That last pitch was 76 mph.
   76. villageidiom Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:48 PM (#4145772)
Take him out now.
   77. Downtown Bookie Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:48 PM (#4145773)

I got nothing.
   85. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:49 PM (#4145781)
Yes!
   86. Gamingboy Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:50 PM (#4145784)
Canyon of the heroes?
   87. villageidiom Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:50 PM (#4145785)
And security totally leveled a fan on the field near the celebratory pile.

The curse of Nolan Ryan is over.

So awesome.

Congrats Mets fans. The world is a better place, when Johan is pitching well.
   93. AndrewJ Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:53 PM (#4145794)
Sorry, Padres.
   94. The Wilpons Must Go (Tom D) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:53 PM (#4145795)
Win or lose, they are Amazin'.
   95. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:53 PM (#4145796)
Since I was about 9 years old, I would get nervous every time that a Mets pitcher went 3 innings without allowing a hit. Here's hoping this doesn't happen again.
   96. Flynn Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4145798)
So, do you skip his next start to give him a little time to rest the wing?
   97. PreservedFish Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4145799)
Thumbs down on the face pie. This moment is too good for that.
   98. Heinie Mantush (Krusty) Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4145800)
YES! YES! YES!
   99. Banta Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:59 PM (#4145805)
So, do you skip his next start to give him a little time to rest the wing?

He can rest the whole rest of the year. Hell, he's earned his contract entirely at this point.
   100. AndrewJ Posted: June 01, 2012 at 09:59 PM (#4145808)
And security totally leveled a fan on the field near the celebratory pile.

The fan in the replica Gary Carter jersey?
