Hard to psyched up for a game not featuring the 3-Fernando lineup, but let's give it a go.
   3. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:12 PM (#3232609)
Fernando really looks good in CF.
   4. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:12 PM (#3232610)
OK...here we go!

I'll take 4-pitch AB's all the livelong day.

a fantastic pitching match up today
   6. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:13 PM (#3232615)
This is a pretty big game because the Mets need to stay close in the WC race.
   7. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:13 PM (#3232616)
two hard-hit balls from the first two hitters
   8. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:14 PM (#3232617)
So now it's 47 seasons plus 71 games without a Mets no-hitter...
   9. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:14 PM (#3232618)
Johan just hasn't looked like himself lately.
   10. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:15 PM (#3232619)
Albert swings on 3-0 against Santana? really?
   11. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:16 PM (#3232621)
Albert gets his pitch and pops it up
   12. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:16 PM (#3232622)
Big out, already.
   13. Bob Koo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:16 PM (#3232624)
Great job, Omir.
   14. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:16 PM (#3232625)
Albert swings on 3-0 against Santana? really?

Who are you to criticize Albert?
   15. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:17 PM (#3232628)
Ok...ummm...what? (No video, I'm on Gameday.)
   16. Bob Koo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:17 PM (#3232631)
What's wrong with Santana? He's getting hit hard.
   17. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:17 PM (#3232632)
Who are you to criticize Albert?

I'm the Lizard King!

It's just been annoying, Albert is expanding his strike zone because the rest of the team hasn't done ####.

Mets fans must really love Yadier.
   18. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:18 PM (#3232633)
Goddammit.
   19. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:18 PM (#3232634)
Tony had the Cardinals working on that catcher's interference play all spring
   20. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:18 PM (#3232635)
I ####### HATEHATEHATE YADIER ####### MOLINA!
   21. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:20 PM (#3232637)
It's just been annoying, Albert is expanding his strike zone

Pujols swung at a pitch right in his wheelhouse...I've got zero problem with that
   22. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:20 PM (#3232638)
So seriously...

What actually happened on the C interferance?
   23. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:24 PM (#3232643)
1st pitch, Slappy? Sigh...
   24. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:24 PM (#3232644)
Pujols swung at a pitch right in his wheelhouse...I've got zero problem with that

I thought it was low in my opinion, not really in his wheelhouse, and I have no problem with Albert normally swinging at 3-0, but lately it just feels that it's a guarantee no matter where it's located that he is going to swing at 3-0 and hit a short high pop up.
   25. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:24 PM (#3232645)
it looked as if Ludwick ticked Santos' mitt as he brought his bat through the zone...
   26. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:26 PM (#3232647)
Where the hell IS everybody?
   27. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:27 PM (#3232649)
Round 1 to Carpenter...
   28. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:28 PM (#3232650)
maybe they forgot it's a day game
   29. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:30 PM (#3232654)
No, I meant everybody, salvo. I was talking to myself for half an inning.

I felt like I Am Legend...
   30. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:30 PM (#3232655)
stick the bat out and maybe something good will happen
   31. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:30 PM (#3232656)
Carpenter punches a single,
   32. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:30 PM (#3232657)
Alright, alright, I'm here!

Giving up hits to the pitcher? BOO!
   33. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:30 PM (#3232658)
It's going to be one of those days.
   34. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:31 PM (#3232659)
No, I meant everybody, salvo. I was talking to myself for half an inning.
sometimes you have to enjoy a little insanity.
   35. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:31 PM (#3232660)
I'm sick of seeing STL pitchers get base hits...
   36. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:32 PM (#3232663)
I'm thinking that Johan is hurt. DAMN YOU RICK PETERSON
   37. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:32 PM (#3232664)
FWIW, Cardinal fans are wondering why Thurston is getting so much PT...

.567 career OPS during three cups of coffee coming into '09...

Hot first four weeks (.867 OPS playing 3b/2b/lf), then about a .560 OPS since then, with numerous defensive and baserunning gaffes..

He's currently 7th on the team in plate appearances
   38. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:32 PM (#3232665)
Judging by Gameday, it seems like Johan has ZEE-RO command today.
   39. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:34 PM (#3232669)
I'm just glad carpenter didn't injure himself there
   40. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:35 PM (#3232670)
Johan is falling behind everyone.
   41. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:35 PM (#3232671)
Johan can't locate his fastball at all.
   42. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:35 PM (#3232672)
This is really bad.
   43. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:36 PM (#3232673)
yikes, 3-0 count with albert on deck
   44. Bob Koo Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:36 PM (#3232675)
Uh-oh.
   45. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:36 PM (#3232676)
Okay, let's see if Albert can maintain his perfect OBP in 2009 with the bases loaded...
   46. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:36 PM (#3232677)
Greaaaaaaaaat. Load 'em up for Poo-hole. Greeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttt.....
   47. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:36 PM (#3232679)
Walking a weak lefthanded hitter to load the bases for Albert. Awful.
   48. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:36 PM (#3232680)
Well, this isn't gonna end well.
   49. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:37 PM (#3232683)
wait, do SF count against OBP? If so, never mind
   50. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:37 PM (#3232684)
THANK YOU CITI FIELD

Whew.
   53. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:38 PM (#3232687)
I might even IBB him -- yes, I know they're loaded -- and try to short-circuit the BIG inning.
   54. twon8 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:38 PM (#3232688)
This ump sucks, more than a few of these balls are right down the middle, above the knee. Carpenter got a strike called a few inches outside on a curveball.
   55. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:39 PM (#3232689)
Birds have already left more men on base than the Mets have had come to bat....
   56. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:40 PM (#3232693)
This ump sucks, more than a few of these balls are right down the middle, above the knee.

In Albert's first AB GameDay showed a couple of the called balls grazing the outside of the zone, but besides those two it seems like the calls have been correct.
   57. twon8 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:41 PM (#3232699)
check out the first pitch to Thurston
   58. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:41 PM (#3232701)
Overmatched. Fernando isn't ready to hit up here yet.
   59. twon8 Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:42 PM (#3232702)
and the first to Ryan
   60. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:42 PM (#3232703)
Carpenter vs. Fernanchise is just cruel, right now...
   61. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:42 PM (#3232704)
Well, Carpenter is making the Mets look silly.
   62. Win one for Agrippa (haplo53) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:43 PM (#3232706)
Carpenter looks untouchable.
   63. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:44 PM (#3232707)
Carpenter vs. Evans is just cruel, right now...
   64. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:44 PM (#3232709)
FWIW, Cardinal fans are wondering why Thurston is getting so much PT...

good attitude, multiple positions capability, hot start as mentioned, injuries which took a few of the regulars out, and a roster decision to send Tyler Greene down costing him 10+ days before he could be recalled.

when the season ends I expect Thurston will be about 11th in plate appearances (Albert, Molina, Ludwick, Ankiel, Rasmus, Schumaker, Khail, Tyler, Duncan, and maybe Ryan)
   65. Lassus Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:45 PM (#3232715)
I'm also here.

And good thing it's a day game. For any of you in New York, you can hear me here tonight with the NY Phil under Maazel at 7:30 PM (no, I'm not a soloist):

http://www.wqxr.com/cgi-bin/iowa/index.html

I'm doubting Johann is injured as much as perhaps a little tired heading into the all-star break.
   66. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:47 PM (#3232718)
check out the first pitch to Thurston

Wow, you're right---I missed that one. Pretty much right doen the middle. The one to Ryan seemed more borderline, but still maybe should've been a strike.
   67. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:47 PM (#3232720)
Delgado's... alive?!
   68. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:48 PM (#3232721)
STICK IT IN HIS EAR!
   69. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:48 PM (#3232723)
Yadi just doing what he does...
   70. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:48 PM (#3232725)
Yadier, Mets can't stop him, only hope is that it's not a playoff series.
   71. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:49 PM (#3232728)
I ####### HATEHATEHATE YADIER ####### MOLINA!
   72. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:49 PM (#3232730)
Ankiel actually has a lower OPS than Thurston... seems really lost right now....
   73. Lassus Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:50 PM (#3232731)
Fernando isn't ready to hit up here yet.

In Canada?
   74. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:50 PM (#3232734)
Wow, two foul pop flies within three feet of each other this inning
   75. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:51 PM (#3232736)
Khalil makes about 80% of his outs on pitches out of the zone away.. because that's all picthers realize they can throw him to get him out
   76. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:51 PM (#3232737)
Ankiel actually has a lower OPS than Thurston... seems really lost right now....

Ankiel has been lost for a while, had a hiccuup last week, but has just been exposed this season.
   77. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:52 PM (#3232738)
That's better, Johan.
   78. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:54 PM (#3232743)
because that's all picthers realize they can throw him to get him out

Or is it because they all know he's batsh!t crazy?
   79. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:55 PM (#3232745)

Or is it because they all know he's batsh!t crazy?

can't you just go to jack in the box and get that fixed by a shake?
   80. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:55 PM (#3232747)
Yikes. That's a sick pitch to strike out Santos.
   81. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:55 PM (#3232748)
Carpenter vs. Santos is just cruel, right now...
   82. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:57 PM (#3232751)
The Mets might get no-hit today.
   83. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:57 PM (#3232752)
It really sucked not having this guy for the last two seasons... what a difference he makes in a rotation...
   84. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:57 PM (#3232753)
Yow! Caprpenter: 31 pitches, 5 (F-I-V-E) balls.

That is all.
   85. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:58 PM (#3232758)
Damn fat fingers...
   86. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 05:59 PM (#3232759)
The Mets might get no-hit today.

Only baserunner is Cora getting plunked to start the 1st.
   87. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:00 PM (#3232761)
It really sucked not having this guy for the last two seasons... what a difference he makes in a rotation...

Yep, if he makes 25+ starts this season I think we win the division handidly(If we get 55 from Carpenter and Wainwright then I don't think the final standings are that close---and that doesn't even mention Pineiro who has been outstanding this year)
   88. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:00 PM (#3232762)
Awesome, Johan. Awesome.
   89. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:00 PM (#3232763)
JEEEEEEEZUSSSSSSSSSSS!
   90. salvomania Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:01 PM (#3232764)
I imagine Thurston bunts here...
   91. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:02 PM (#3232768)
And so he does.
   92. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:02 PM (#3232769)
walking the pitcher should result in an automatic run. Don't waste time working him around, just give the other team a run (or at very least it should be counted as a run for ERA purposes.)
   93. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:02 PM (#3232770)
Ralph sounds like he's got a spring in his step today.
   94. Russlan will never be fond of Jason Bay Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:05 PM (#3232772)
OK, Johan. Get the lefty hitter ahead of Pujols.
   95. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:05 PM (#3232773)
all fans 48 inches and under receive a free ticket to six flags, wonder if that douche of a lawyer would sue for those tickets also?
   96. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:06 PM (#3232778)
Johan keeps walking that thin line, man...
   97. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:06 PM (#3232779)
Maybe walking Carpenter was part of the plan to tire him out.
   98. There are no words... (Met Fan Charlie) Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:08 PM (#3232780)
all fans 48 inches and under receive a free ticket to six flags, wonder if that douche of a lawyer would sue for those tickets also?

Who? LaRussa? I kid...I kid...
   99. cardsfanboy Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:09 PM (#3232782)
damn, guess Mets stadium won't see a no-hitter today.
   100. Banta Posted: June 25, 2009 at 06:09 PM (#3232783)
Crappy is a no-hitter breaking machine.

But he still sucks.
