You mean Julio Ramirez?

More importantly, is that new Cubs LF going to play today? Sorry, silly question. He only had *one* hit last night. Clearly needs some more pine time to sort things out.

the cubs post season odds are creeping back towards the 1% mark. Anyone else got pennant fever?

RDF, Voodoo.

I have never seen such apathy from the Cubs chatter crowd, myself included. I actually sorta watched much of last night's game, but there is little chance that I will stay up late to watch this one, despite the fact that Zambrano is pitching, and I have Lowry on my fantasy team.

WHats the word on bonds playing tonight?>

8-4 against the Cards. The Cubs must be certainties for the division. No?

Which one? Murton or Hairston?

Same here. I was at a friend's house for a fantasy football draft and couldn't avoid it.

I don't believe this violates my Operation Shutdown as I made explicit that I would watch in cases where either (a) I already paid the money, as in the Milwaukee Meetup or (b) where I was a guest.

I'll sit up for tonight's game, but I was going to be on the computer anyway, so it will be on in the background.

I doubt Murton will play, and I assume we'll see his Neifiness back on the throne of SS.

The SF broadcast just showed the Bartman section in the stands, about 20 guys in identical sweaters, Cubs caps, and headphones. Have you guys seen this before?

What ticks me off this morning --

Regarding Lowry's scoring off a sacrifice fly last night, nearly all of the reporters were focused on Zambrano's tirade on why Murton conceded the run. Not our two-time Manager of the Year. The Sun-Times reports:

Lowry stopped on his break for the plate, obviously thinking that any kind of Murton throw would challenge him and ready to retreat. But he trotted home safely once he saw Murton's decision to concede the run by throwing to second.

"It was a young mistake," Baker said. "I assume he thought it was deep enough for the guy to score. Then he looks up and the guy's not running, and you get kind of confused."

I am absolutely sure, of course, that none of Dusty's veterans have thrown to the wrong base this season.

Remember last year? Between them, I don't think Sosa and Alou hit a cutoff man all year. Just awful, awful throws every time the ball was hit in their direction.
