I guess he'd have been out either way - if he had re-touched third, he probably wouldn't have had time to beat Soriano's throw to second. But it was funny seeing a major leaguer so brazenly flaunt the rules like that.
Although I seem to remember a similar play last year that the Cubs failed to notice...
