I refuse to even look at Byrd's stats to find interesting/depressing things about them.
Sorry to non-WGN viewers who don't know what I'm talking about, I'm just cranky.
I am bitter about TV commercials, though. I see the advertising world as a vast ocean of cynicism and incompetence, and those Honda ads are some of the worst of the bunch. Just awful.
All in all, the team's baserunning has seemed fairly solid, and their defense - Castro's four errors aside - hasn't been all that bad either. I don't think the team has been that terrible fundamentally so far.
Also ... whoops.
As for Soriano, I don't really see what would be a better idea. Jackson is still striking out too much in AAA. Plus, it's only a matter of time until Byrd is gone. I imagine the OF will eventually be LaHair, Jackson and DeJesus.
From a scientific point of view, it sure is convenient that the Cubs are providing a non-homer control group, for comparison's sake.

Sappelt plays CF too, right? He's off to a slow start in Iowa but he has a better minor league track record than Mather.
Nolasco: 1-0, 3.46 ERA
Run Differential: -19 (Reds are only supposed to be good team worse at -20)
SRS Rank: 14th in NL
