Part of that's the fault of the organization, and I hate how they handled it.

I don't blame Ordonez for taking the last big, big-money contract he'll probably see, and I don't blame the Sox for looking elsewhere. Best for both sides, I don't see much of a need to boo.

Eraser-X, I agree with PH that it was best for both sides the way it worked out. I certainly am glad that the White Sox didn't sign him to the contract Detroit agreed to with Ordoñez. But there's no need to demonize him. The Sox aren't the only club that does that, by any means. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a club that doesn't do that.

I was at Mullet Night last time, and it was actually pretty fun. Of course, the ballgame itself probably had something to do with that.

But then I came home to the news that Rooney won't be back next year. That's a drag.

I never really had much Home Run Inn Pizza, despite a location being a mile away from my house.

They do have a couple of Uno's around here, but I've never had pizza from one of its chain stores -- just the original.

Now, I'm one who thinks that good defense is underrated, and I appreciate a good defensive player as much as anyone, but even I realise that Rey Ordonez was a liability, not an asset.

I'm trying to think of some on the AL, and I can't come up with anyone. Jorge Cantu, maybe, but has Cantu played long enough to be talked about?

Yeah, Redus was a good-hitting lefty bat - a Ross Gload type.

Gary Pettis was an outstanding defensive centerfielder. He hit like Willie Harris - a decent eye but absolutely no power.

First, Ken Harrelson is a complete idiot. I know everyone knows that, but I wanted to say so anyway.

Second, Cantú seems to be able to handle second base OK, so I don't see him as a problem at third. Moreover, he has done a very nice job for my fantasy team.

Third, if Harrelson was referring to A-Rod, he is an even bigger idiot than I think he is, because A-Rod is a very good defensive third baseman. Blalock is real good, too.

Jason Giambi sprung to mind, though. He's one of the few first basemen I've seen who actually hurts a team with his glove. His skills have deteriorated quickly.

I was going to add that close-up shots of Shelton make me a little queasy.

I loved it earlier this year when Maggs said he missed the "Ooooh-weeeee-oooooh, Maaaagglio."

I think Soriano probably fits the bill for what Harrelson was saying, and in Soriano's case, Harrelson could be right. Soriano is pretty bad defensively.

He mistimed his leap at the wall, so the ball bounced off the wall rather than go into his glove. He then stumbled after hitting the wall, giving Iguchi time to get to third.

Re: Jesse Crain. He's had a pretty good year, actually. I had him on my fantasy team all year until recently. I ditched him to pick up McCarthy. Crain hasn't been striking out many batters, however, a lot fewer than in the minors or during his call-up last year.

I just threw Crain out there. I have Santana on my fantasy team, and I've seen him put up good lines without the win because some reliever who's supposed to be good botched it.

Is Trammell on the hot seat? He's one manager that I don't know much about, as far as strengths, weaknesses, fan gripes. I don't think he's been given great teams, so it seems like he's doing alright with what he has.
