Meathead's got no chance against the decent leftie. At least they broke up the losong streak

Not to beat a dead, buried and decomposing horse, but why hasn't there been more Mike Lowell/steroids talk? The home run drop-off is pretty severe, unless he's injured and not talking about it.

JZ, Mike Lowell isn't an outspoken black guy, hasn't pissed off/ignored the media, doesn't play in NYC, or committed any other of the various sins that gains one unfavorable attention. Or he's just old and fell off the table like our boy Jim Thome.

Personally, I'm no fan of all of the 'roids sanctimony, and I'm very glad that it's one story that has stayed out of the egregiously cliche ridden Philly media.

True, although that might have more to do with TO-dominance than anything else.

Johnny Zen,
You ain't joking when you say "anything else." I think there were more reporters covering TO's comments on Dan Le Batard's radio show than that little hurricane they had in New Orleans.

I'm picking the Phils tonight. I think they're going to take one more run into the lead and then pull off a truly dramatic, heartbreaking collapse. This is just disappointing but I think they have the capacity to rev up to deeply depressing.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

"As the wild card turns."

Oh, how clever.

Why'd they take out Vargas?
   9. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: September 11, 2005 at 12:40 AM (#1611325)
Oh well.
   10. GregD Posted: September 11, 2005 at 12:44 AM (#1611337)
Rich Dubee is one of the funniest names in baseball.

a towering shot into the seats...

Mike Liberthal, Great American Hero
   13. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: September 11, 2005 at 01:36 AM (#1611441)
No, no, no, needed Juan E. to hit into the double play there, not strikeout1

Madson really hasn't been getting the job done often enough this year.
   14. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: September 11, 2005 at 01:36 AM (#1611445)
See.
   15. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: September 11, 2005 at 01:57 AM (#1611494)
Jim Mecir and Todd Jones? Are those guys like 90 years old put together?
   16. Gaylord Perry the Platypus (oi!) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:06 AM (#1611509)
Come on, Philadelphia!
   17. Gaylord Perry the Platypus (oi!) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:13 AM (#1611520)
And Todd Jones defuses the situation.

I think he'd get my vote for comeback player of the year.
   18. Gaylord Perry the Platypus (oi!) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:24 AM (#1611536)
Good start there. Let's go Phillies!
   19. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:26 AM (#1611539)
I'm with J Leeds.

Go Philadelphia!
   20. Gaylord Perry the Platypus (oi!) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:27 AM (#1611541)
Lieberthal is the man. He can do it. Come on!

Well, Michael Tucker. ####
   21. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:28 AM (#1611544)
That was disappointing.
   22. Gaylord Perry the Platypus (oi!) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:30 AM (#1611545)
Well, playing for the tie and then playing for the loss by pinch-hitting Michael Tucker is bad managing. Bring back Larry!
   23. Gaylord Perry the Platypus (oi!) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:32 AM (#1611546)
So Ted, where is Murray? Or is that a Mary Tyler Moore reference?
   24. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:33 AM (#1611547)
Well that was bullshit.
   25. The Ted (now serving waffles) Posted: September 11, 2005 at 02:48 AM (#1611572)
Murray is in western Kentucky.
