1. Doug's Hopkin off the band wagon Posted: July 02, 2009 at 12:50 AM (#3239878)Man. Pitching's better this year, but it's been a tough hoe to rode with the bats.
Keep Ryan on first. Game's on ESPN tonight. Albert needs to eat!
Some of the things you (I) look for in the best season from a player as good as Albert include: maybe a 200 OPS+, more HRs than strikeouts, Triple Crown, .400 BA. Sure. But anyone that's looked at his stats as much as me (or El Samouri or others) takes pleasure in littler things like, say, more than 400 TBs or 100+ XBHs.
Just for fun, I looked thru his splits and I think he just set a month-long high in XBHs, though not by much...

24 -- June 2009: 10-0-14
23 -- Aug 2001: 16-1-6
23 -- Aug 2004: 10-1-12
22 -- May 2003: 12-0-10
19 -- Apr 2001: 8-1-8
19 -- June 2003: 11-0-9
18 -- Apr 2006: 4-0-14
18 -- Aug 2008: 10-0-8
FWIW, August seems to be a big month for XBHs. In addition to the list above, you also have:
Aug 2005: 8-1-7
Aug 2006: 10-0-6
(Punch line now open).
I guess #5's getting IBBed in the bottom of the eighth.
