I hope Vargas gets pulled after 1.1 IP... Not because I want the Yankees to win, but because I'd like to see the Mariners' bullpen spent before heading up to Boston for the weekend. I have tickets for the 4th, and I want Boston's bats to provide the fireworks.

Unless they're using maple bats. I need to keep my kids safe.

I'm in Southington, CT, right now, and it's been POURING since around 4:00. I have no idea what the conditions are in NYC right now, but I can't imagine the conditions are good.

I amend my #1 to include 5 hours' worth of rain delays.

Better rain than bees
   4. villageidiom Posted: July 02, 2009 at 11:47 PM (#3241002)
5 hours' worth of bees delays would be OK, too.

I didn't see Suzuki's "double"... I'm following on Gameday (from work). What happened?
   6. dingo powered war machine (CoB) Posted: July 02, 2009 at 11:56 PM (#3241013)
He stung a line drive down to 1st, teix leaped up but the ball went off his glove and rolled down the line. Ichiro! was on 2nd before Cano could retrieve it.
   7. villageidiom Posted: July 02, 2009 at 11:57 PM (#3241014)
That sounds legitimate enough. Had MT not touched it, probably would've been a double anyway.
   8. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:08 AM (#3241019)
I don't mind if Sabathia lasts only 1.1, either.

No, wait... K. He's already surpassed that.

And a CS. When they set their minds to it, the Mariners can burn opportunities pretty quickly.
   9. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:16 AM (#3241020)
Which will happen first?

a. Someone will post that, given the number of posts in this thread by a Red Sox fan (me), Red Sox fans are obsessed with the Yankees.

b. Andy will participate in a Yankees game chatter here.

Maybe we can get two for one, and get Andy to post the former.

On a separate note, Gameday recorded an 80 MPH "fastball" from Vargas, followed by a 79 MPH "changeup".

Nice catch Ichiro - ####### excellent
   11. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:20 AM (#3241022)
Ichiro! taketh, Ichiro! giveth back.
   12. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:20 AM (#3241023)
Evening Morning, Phil.
   13. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:24 AM (#3241025)
The Yankees are getting Vargas' pitch count up. Mariners bullpen, here we come!

Oh, well, inning over.
   14. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:27 AM (#3241026)
hey vi - how are you mate?
   15. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:27 AM (#3241027)
Doing well, but busy. (Still at work, 8:30 pm, ahead of a long weekend.)
   16. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:28 AM (#3241028)
How are you? And the women?
   17. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:42 AM (#3241044)
Vargas 53 pitches through 3 IP. Damn, that's not helping enough. Where's Chuck Knoblauch when you need him?
   18. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:44 AM (#3241047)
Excellent - never better - the girls are great!!
   19. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 12:47 AM (#3241048)
Good to hear. My girl just turned 11 last week. I'm getting old.

My boy is now 8, and working on his changeup.
   20. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:02 AM (#3241055)
I think the Yankees are confused by my pleas for the Mariners' starter to be knocked out early. Sabathia 81 pitches through 4, six runs in.
   21. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:15 AM (#3241064)
Bullpen. Excellent!
   22. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:20 AM (#3241067)
C'mon, Yankees! 9 pitches?! Must I count on a bee delay?
   23. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:31 AM (#3241083)
Looked like a strike
   24. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:42 AM (#3241097)
Nice walk - who the #### walks Cano?
   25. villageidiom Posted: July 03, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3241101)
OK, I'm calling it a night... at work. Heading home. Have a good weekend, Phil.

and again ...

(though he *was* probably safe at 2nd)
