Orsillo looks/sounds ready to introduce RemDawg. He seems positively giddy, like he has a surprise to tell everyone.

He just referred to Heidi as "the third member of our broadcast team" without mentioning the second.

Hmm. Just the Mayor.

Is it me or is Casey speaking right into the microphone, he needs to pull back a bit.

Nice to see Bay do something.

Heidi Watney's shirt looks like it belongs in my 77 year old aunt's closet.

I prefer sending there, King Felix can easily strike out the next guy.
   7. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 03, 2009 at 11:43 PM (#3241712)
Normally I'd be with you Biff (and you were right obviously) but I think for Green to be safe you'd almost have to be counting on a throw skipping away. Even an offline throw would have probably beaten him by enough to allow Johnson to come back and make the tag.
   8. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 03, 2009 at 11:46 PM (#3241717)

I guess I thought it would be a closer play than you did, though admittedly I was only half watching.

Why is there never a sniper when you need one?
   10. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 03, 2009 at 11:59 PM (#3241735)
Not a Lenny Clarke fan Fly?
   11. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:00 AM (#3241739)
shut up you drunk fat moron
   12. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:01 AM (#3241740)
Come on sniper! Come on sniper!
   13. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:01 AM (#3241741)
Jesus, this is worse than his usual appearances. Generally he's pimping some reasonably good charity or something. What the hell is he there for tonight?
   14. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:02 AM (#3241743)
I think he overpowered the guard at the door.
   15. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:03 AM (#3241746)
c'mon, massive coronary event. let's go, massive coronary event!
   16. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:04 AM (#3241749)
This is...this is...I don't know what this is. But this is something. Why is he on my tv?
   17. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:04 AM (#3241750)
There a magnet on the foul pole tonight or what?
   18. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3241751)
Really? Rob Johnson? Again?
   19. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3241752)
Wow. And now he's taking on the sponsors.
   20. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3241753)
Lenny Clarke just discussed that there are words you're not allowed to say. He says what we're all thinking! Twenty-five years ago!
   21. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:05 AM (#3241754)
Really? Ronny Cedeno? Really?
   22. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:06 AM (#3241755)
Ronny Cedeno? Seriously?
   23. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:06 AM (#3241756)
That was actually a very good knuckler he hit, too.
   24. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:07 AM (#3241757)
And...*exhale*.
   25. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:07 AM (#3241758)
I have to say, Don's obvious desire to get Lenny Clarke the #### out of the booth makes me feel more positively toward Don.
   26. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:09 AM (#3241760)
why is everyone wearing red hats today?
   27. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:10 AM (#3241761)
I would prefer that we had a first baseman with the capacity for an OPS above 700.
   28. Curse of the Graffanino (dfan) Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:11 AM (#3241762)
Is this an unimportant game, so Wakefield is guaranteed to be great, or an important game, so Wakefield is guaranteed to get the yips?
   29. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:11 AM (#3241763)
Red hats with the red, white and blue logos. I believe they are doing it through the weekend either in honor of Independence Day or the 26th anniversary of Dave Righetti's no hitter.
   30. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:12 AM (#3241764)
Casey's ####### killing me - why hasn't someone in the production truck relayed the information that he's just yelling at America?
   31. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:12 AM (#3241765)
Red hats with the red, white and blue logos. I believe they are doing it through the weekend either in honor of Independence Day or the 26th anniversary of Dave Righetti's no hitter.
And here I had my money on a linux promotion.
   32. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:27 AM (#3241773)
Are you ####### kidding me? Cedeno is a ####### joke to end all jokes - really not in the mood for this today.

Better off avoiding chatter I think - it could get ugly
   33. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:27 AM (#3241774)
A recent discovery: spare ribs with garlic sauce from Best Little Restaurant in Chinatown. They're actually fried, perfectly juicy in the middle, with just a little bit of fried garlic on top. So good.
   34. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:28 AM (#3241776)
That sounds really good. Gotta admit, the bacon pizza and grape soda delivery didn't get it done tonight.
   35. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:34 AM (#3241778)
Jason Bay has, like, anti-charisma. I like him - something honest there.
   36. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:37 AM (#3241779)
"anti-charisma" - I like that description, it really fits.
   37. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:37 AM (#3241780)
Yup, Casey's right- Branyan Millar'd that one.
   38. Fly, the most judgment-free human being on Earth Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:47 AM (#3241783)
NESN won't spring for a hotel room?
   39. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:50 AM (#3241785)
Hey, times are tough all 'round.
   40. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:53 AM (#3241786)
There we go!
   41. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:54 AM (#3241787)
He destroyed that ball. Every time Drew gets a hold of one, you see why he was such an amazing prospect - just a natural ballplayer.
   42. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 12:59 AM (#3241789)
Ah crap.
   43. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:07 AM (#3241793)
The frustrating thing if we don't come back is that the Sox have had some chances tonight. The 2nd and the 6th most notably and the Sox came up empty. Facing Felix is a tall order but if you get chances against him you have to take advantage of them.
   44. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:10 AM (#3241795)
White's numbers do not suggest he is a good pitcher. His pitches likewise aren't very impressive. This is probably the inning to do something.
   45. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:11 AM (#3241797)
I feel like even if we don't get anything here we can still get to Aardsma. He still walks people regularly and I'd be surprised if the Sox didn't make him sweat at the least.
   46. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:13 AM (#3241799)
send the runner? I say send.
   47. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:14 AM (#3241800)
Boy, it's too bad Kotsay doesn't have power, that was a home run pitch.

I'm with you, I would have sent him.
   48. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:15 AM (#3241801)
Is this gonna be Lowe now? Lowe looked good when I saw him, once.
   49. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:17 AM (#3241803)
Not Lowe, don't know anything about Kelley but 11:1 K:BB is pretty damned good.
   50. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:17 AM (#3241804)
Nope, it's someone I've never heard of. Let's see...
   51. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:19 AM (#3241806)
Why no Baldelli here? Then Bailey for Kottaras.
   52. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:20 AM (#3241807)
I mean, let's have that clutch motha Nick Green hit for himself! He's awesome!
   53. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:20 AM (#3241808)
Attaboy Nickie!!! Thank God for Fenway!
   54. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:22 AM (#3241809)
It is my considered opinion that they should pinch hit for Kottaras, too.
   55. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:23 AM (#3241811)
Glad I still watched...

:)
   56. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:24 AM (#3241812)
I don't mind letting Kottaras hit. He has looked alright lately and you gotta let Varitek have a full day off once in awhile. I think if Green had walked or singled and they were still behind it's a little different but with the game tied let the kid have a chance.
   57. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:27 AM (#3241813)
That was more a reverse jinx attempt than anything. With Varitek the only LHB on the bench, and the normal decrease in effectiveness you see for pinch-hitters, I think that Kottaras hitting for himself is perfectly defensible...

that looked like a hit off hte bat - yeah, Pedroia got a really great jump
   58. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:27 AM (#3241814)
Nice to see the slugger Cedeno bunting there.
   59. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:28 AM (#3241815)
OK, here we go!!!
   60. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:32 AM (#3241816)
Bottom of the ninth inning of a tie game probably not the best time for the player of the week feature.
   61. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:33 AM (#3241817)
Dammit. That 1-1 was right there for Youks.
   62. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:34 AM (#3241818)
Geez, top of the order I was looking for something a little better than that.
   63. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:37 AM (#3241821)
Nice little first-pitch slider to Branyan. Good call by Kottaras.
   64. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:38 AM (#3241823)
WHY is he making that throw?
   65. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:39 AM (#3241824)
yeah, that ball's gotta go back into your pocket
   66. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:43 AM (#3241828)
Papelbon looked very good there.
   67. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:46 AM (#3241832)
Here comes the big Papi!
   68. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3241833)
That 1-2 swing, in its own way, was vintage Papi. He wants to be sure he has a chance to end this game.
   69. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3241834)
Get around on that.
   70. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3241835)
Where's the shift? And where's the beef?
   71. Jay Seaver Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:47 AM (#3241836)
Geez... What's the shortstop actually doing in the shortstop's position with Ortiz at bat?
   72. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:48 AM (#3241837)
Ah, damn. Well pitched by Grabauskas.

and damnit again.
   73. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:49 AM (#3241838)
This is definitely a moment where I think, what if the Red Sox had a first baseman?
   74. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:49 AM (#3241839)
73--good one.
   75. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:53 AM (#3241841)
So, Fred Tausch is some rich guy who wants to run for office, but needs more name recognition first? Weird ad. Also, he's going to need a new voice. He sounds like an adolescent Cole Hamels.
   76. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:55 AM (#3241842)
oh dear
   77. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:55 AM (#3241843)
WHere's the free out?
   78. Chip Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:55 AM (#3241845)
Casey's right, that was a shitty 1-2 pitch.
   79. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:56 AM (#3241846)
Son of a gun. Throw strikes.
   80. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:57 AM (#3241848)
I had a bad feeling the minute the lead runner got on
   81. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:58 AM (#3241849)
Geez, seemed like he should have been able to catch that in the air.
   82. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:58 AM (#3241850)
Why didn't he catch that?
   83. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:58 AM (#3241851)
Frame it Kotto.
   84. Chip Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:59 AM (#3241852)
Poorly executed bunt, but gets away with it.
   85. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:59 AM (#3241853)
Don't give up a run to this crumb
   86. Biff isn't really an apt handle anymore Posted: July 04, 2009 at 01:59 AM (#3241854)
I can't believe we can't get out Rob ####### Johnson.
   87. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3241855)
Two horrid two strike pitches in the inning.
   88. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3241856)
WTF was that? Terrible, terrible changeup.

You throw 95, and this is a .200 hitting catcher. Throw your ####### fastball.
   89. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:00 AM (#3241857)
0-2?
   90. Chip Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3241858)
You gotta be ####### kidding me. Another horrible, horrible 2-strike pitch.
   91. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3241860)
That was such a bad pitch
   92. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3241861)
I'm sure that 0-2 was meant to be down and away, and it just got away from him. But that's why it should have been a high fastball - you're looking strikeout/pop-up. Just a bad pitch call, compounded by a worse pitch.
   93. Darren Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:01 AM (#3241862)
And what's with all these guys throwing 90+ changeups.

Way to churn through the relievers tonight.
   94. Chip Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:02 AM (#3241863)
Is this Ramon Ramirez or Ramiro Mendoza, Red Sox Edition?
   95. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:02 AM (#3241864)
What a ####### joke from the start this ####### game has been. Between Lopez, Cedeno and ####### Johnson I want to ####### kill somebody
   96. Chip Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:03 AM (#3241865)
I'm sure that 0-2 was meant to be down and away, and it just got away from him. But that's why it should have been a high fastball - you're looking strikeout/pop-up. Just a bad pitch call, compounded by a worse pitch.

Which leaves the question whether that was Kottaras' call, or Ramirez's insistence on throwing that pitch.
   97. Jose Can You Seabiscuit Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:05 AM (#3241866)
Yeah, why the rush to lift Delcarmen and then Papelbon? Neither guy threw more than 10 pitches?
   98. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:05 AM (#3241868)
If it is Kottaras then he needs to be shot - his pitch calling looks for want of a better word - ####### hopeless
   99. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:06 AM (#3241870)
Well, Papelbon's now thrown four out of five days, so limiting him to an inning makes sense. Delcarmen could have thrown another, I think.
   100. Phil Coorey. Posted: July 04, 2009 at 02:06 AM (#3241871)
he just had to use everyone to make sure that someone has a bad night
