Nobody who I feel better about coming up to the plate with the bases loaded and two out in a tie game than Mark DeRosa.

I came here to say that I didn't know Donovan and Jhonathan Solano were brothers, but as a typed it out I decided that I did learn that in an earlier game this season.

Just for the record.

Also, it pads my post count! #5000 is swinging into view.
   4. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:04 PM (#4200052)
Taking aim at 4900, let's just say that I do not like Adam LaRoche's PA music. There has only been one other Nats player whose music I liked less. But I've forgotten who!
   5. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:05 PM (#4200056)
Adam LaRoche!
   6. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:06 PM (#4200057)
Adam LaRoche's continued offensive excellence befuddles me.
   7. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:08 PM (#4200064)
Befuddles and PLEASES me, to be exact.
   8. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:10 PM (#4200065)
Speaking of post counts, this one brings me up to exactly 5550. I'm wondering if I should just post five more times in this thread and then retire from Primer.
   9. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:21 PM (#4200083)
Even if it is as respected an announcer as Dave Van Horne, when a radio pbp man says something like 'look at the seats glistening in the sun', I do wonder if they are entirely in command of their medium.
   10. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:25 PM (#4200088)
I really don't see the point of using the IBB with a pitcher as wild as Hand. He'll just walk the next chap.
   11. Bourbon Samurai Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:29 PM (#4200094)
I learned from this game that the infield fly rule does not apply to bunts.
   12. Bourbon Samurai Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:29 PM (#4200095)
Laroche better do something here after 95 foul balls
   13. Bourbon Samurai Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:29 PM (#4200096)
ooooh that looked like a strike to me but I'll take it
   14. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:33 PM (#4200099)
Or even the next two in a row. Honestly, Ozzie...
   15. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:35 PM (#4200100)
Well, now all the breaks are going the Nationals' way.
   16. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:38 PM (#4200105)
Bases loaded walks. Gotta love 'em...when it's the other team doing it.
   17. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:48 PM (#4200117)
So far, another very strong, gutsy outing for John Lannan (again, after a balky first inning) in a game where the Nats desperately needed it. With only 67 pitches through five innings it's looking like he can give the bullpen some much-needed rest.
   18. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 05:59 PM (#4200128)
The contrast between the Marlins' announcers and those of the Nationals when talking about a brand of hot sauce is quite marked. One can see how the Nationals became a FIRST-PLACE TEAM!
   19. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 06:21 PM (#4200147)
Well done, Mr Lannan. The fact he wasn't traded suggests to me the Nationals are dead serious about Strasburg's innings limits. Further, if he can keep putting in performances like his last two, Lannan in place of Strasburg won't be so bad.
   20. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 06:34 PM (#4200163)
Another outing from Lannan that was exactly what we needed at a time we needed it the most. Now let's have no alarms and no surprises please in holding a four run lead for six outs.
   21. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 06:34 PM (#4200164)
Man, Kurt Suzuki can't get here quickly enough.
   22. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 06:35 PM (#4200167)
The Marlins are using a lot of players I'm not very familiar with.
   23. Bourbon Samurai Posted: August 03, 2012 at 06:55 PM (#4200182)
what the balls storen you loaded the bases while I was in the shower
   24. Bourbon Samurai Posted: August 03, 2012 at 06:57 PM (#4200186)
Davey is not ####### around
   25. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 07:02 PM (#4200187)
THANK ####### GOD.
   26. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 07:24 PM (#4200200)
Why can't the Nats ever just make it easy?
   27. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 08:02 PM (#4200228)
That game got so somnolent, I was grateful to the dog for pestering me to take him on a short walk.
   28. Bourbon Samurai Posted: August 03, 2012 at 08:21 PM (#4200239)
I guess we only get one chatter? Whatev, let's go nats
   29. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: August 03, 2012 at 08:30 PM (#4200246)
Resolved: the single most underrated factor in the Nationals' incredible success so far this season is their infield defense, and the most underrated aspect of that infield defense is Adam LaRoche's ridiculously impressive glovework at 1B. After so many years of tragicomic 1B defense, LaRoche damn near seems like Albert Pujols to me.
   30. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 08:44 PM (#4200254)
The Marlins are paying $6 million for Buck's pathetic 2012 bat, with another year to go.
   31. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 08:47 PM (#4200257)
Gonzalez ERA since the All-Star break is 4.84, I thought I heard.
   32. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 09:24 PM (#4200298)
Well, this is an unwelcome turn of events.
   33. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 09:26 PM (#4200299)
Wait, they are only just getting someone up in the bullpen? I would have had someone up after Reyes' single
   34. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 09:37 PM (#4200303)
Marlins fans will want me to mention Buck's production/expense ratio more often.
   35. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 09:42 PM (#4200305)
So Josh Johnson must be going another inning.
   36. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 09:59 PM (#4200310)
Well, that sounded like a pretty impressive feat by Reyes.
   37. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 10:18 PM (#4200320)
Wow, Ozzie's going to let Johnson go for the CG. Makes sense seeing as he's only at 97 pitches.
   38. fra paolo Posted: August 03, 2012 at 10:52 PM (#4200333)
I think the Marlins deserved the second one. Johnson shut the Nats down.
