Topic for the chatter: What do you guys think of the job that Alderson et al have done so far? The biggest plus seems to be hitting a home run with the Beltran deal. I think their biggest negative was not trading Reyes last season. I know most of us didn't want the Mets to trade Jose but I think it's fair to say that they should have known that they weren't likely to re-sign him with the knowledge they had at hand. It doesn't look like they have done particularly well with the signings they made this offseason.

I feel they that they have been OK, solid but unspectacular.

I more or less agree with your assessment, Russlan. I didn't mind the reliever frenzy last offseason, so I'm not going to blame Alderson for it not working out 60 games into the season.

I also more or less feel that R.A. Dickey is awesome.

Alderson's bullpen selections have obviously been suspect thus far, but I like the way he's built the bench. Outside of that, I have no comment. If he had a real budget, then I'd pass more judgement.

And awesome is not sufficient enough for Dickey. He's pretty much beaten the game at this point. If there was another league above MLB, he'd be first in line to get promoted.

I know Minaya signed Dickey but who gave him the extension? That might be the best move this new group has done so far.

The Pagan-Torres deal is looking like a disaster, BTW.

Yeah, beaten the game isn't good enough either. Broken it.

Looking Cy Youngey.

Dickey's teammates not exactly helping with the shutout bid, eh?

That's a horrible way to lose a shutout.

That ninth inning will be legend when Dickey goes on to throw another 30 scoreless innings.

Dickey broke the Met record for shutout innings. The streak ended on an error, two passed balls, and a weak grounder.
