The hilarious thing is Parnell is still probably by far the best pitcher we have in the bullpen right now, right?
   102. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 09:54 PM (#4185575)
FWIW, the Nats still blow this one in extras. Who will be the goat (other than Clippard, that is): Mattheus, Stammen, or Gonzalez?

If Henry Rodriguez is brought in, then fire Davey.
   103. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4185577)
We've already blown one of these back-and-forth extra-inning games to the Nats, remember?
   104. JJ1986 Posted: July 17, 2012 at 09:55 PM (#4185579)
Gonzalez has 20 games already? Wasn't he called up in June?
   105. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4185580)
Wasn't Mike Gonzalez the weaving snake-charmer, or was that another Mike Gonzalez?
   106. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 09:57 PM (#4185581)
I hate sac bunts, and I really hate sac bunts on the road.
   107. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4185585)
NICE BASERUNNING, MURPHY. Is everyone on this team stupid?
   108. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: July 17, 2012 at 09:59 PM (#4185587)
I do NOT want to have to face Wright again.
   109. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:00 PM (#4185590)
Wil you guys bring in a righty against Wright?
   110. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4185591)
Ah, one warming up.
   111. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4185593)
Yes! Josh!!!
   112. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4185594)
Josh Thole with his massive TWELFTH RBI of the year!
   113. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4185595)
SEE?
   114. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4185596)
One bullpen failure after another.
   115. Yonder Alonso in misguided trousers (cardinal) Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4185597)
Thole!! Who needs Ramon Hernandez?!
   116. Why Bloody Valdespin? Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4185603)
that 0-1 strike to Wright was at his ankles.
   117. Why Bloody Valdespin? Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4185605)
And Wright gets a gift on 0-2.
   118. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4185606)
Can we have a third blown save in two innings?
   119. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:09 PM (#4185607)
My prediction: three up, three down, Nats go out with a whimper.
   120. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4185611)
Well, at least Atlanta had its brains bashed by Barry Zito (!) and the Giants.
   121. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4185612)
OK, then.

Let's see how this goes.
   122. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4185613)
Whoa, Tim Byrdak is still pitching in the majors?!?
   123. Why Bloody Valdespin? Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4185614)
If the Mets get out of the 10th, Eso, there's no way they're doing it without putting at least 2 runners on base,
   124. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:11 PM (#4185616)
FOR F**K'S SAKE DON'T BUNT. LOMBARDOZZI IS MORE USEFUL THAN THAT.
   125. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:11 PM (#4185619)
If I see Bautista anywhere near the mound, I'm going to psychically message Banta to call the sniper.
   126. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4185620)
Bryce Harper has frankly looked pretty lost lately. I predict a meh flyball out.
   127. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:12 PM (#4185621)
See, I don't mind the sac bunt as much at home - despite still hating it, I hate it less.
   128. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4185623)
....or that could happen.
   129. Yonder Alonso in misguided trousers (cardinal) Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4185624)
Ugh.
   130. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4185625)
That would be an affirmative!!
   131. JJ1986 Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4185626)
GOD DAMNIT

No way that should be a triple
   132. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4185627)
Eso, you stealing my shtick has really sucked.
   133. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:13 PM (#4185628)
Holy crap, this sucks.
   134. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:14 PM (#4185629)
Eso, you stealing my shtick has really sucked.
I learned from the best, friend.
   135. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:14 PM (#4185631)
If Collins IBBs two batters, I'm going to lose my ####### mind.
   136. Why Bloody Valdespin? Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:14 PM (#4185633)
Shocking.
   137. JJ1986 Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4185634)
Desmond's been too hurt to play. Don't walk him.
   138. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4185635)
Wait, Terry Collins is walking the bases loaded?
   139. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:15 PM (#4185636)
2 IBBs is the only way to play it.
   140. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4185637)
Just put it in the air LaRoche.
   141. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4185638)
Normally I would joke about how this is the dumbest strategy of all time, but the way things are going right now, LaRoche will hit a first-pitch ground ball double play.
   142. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4185639)
They should bring Valdespin in for 5 IFs.
   143. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4185640)

   144. JJ1986 Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4185641)
I really hate playing the infield in with the slow runner.
   145. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:17 PM (#4185645)
So, wild pitch?
   146. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:17 PM (#4185646)
Ugh. See? It's going to work out for the friggin' Mets.
   147. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:18 PM (#4185647)
There's one.
   148. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:18 PM (#4185648)
OH MY ####### GOD WHAT THE ############# PIECE OF ####### SUN OF A ####### PIECE OF #### ####### #### #### ####### THING ARE YOU ####### DOING JESUS ####### 1999 ####### KENNY ROGERS WHAT THE ####### COLLINS YOU STUPID IDIOT
The best part about this is that I really have no idea what the "1999" and "Kenny Rogers" references are about. But it still makes sense, somehow.
   149. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:19 PM (#4185649)
This is torture.
   150. JJ1986 Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:19 PM (#4185650)

The worst ending to a baseball game in history.
   151. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:21 PM (#4185653)
HA!

He wanted to get hit there.

Spoke too soon?

Oof.
   154. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:22 PM (#4185656)
Baseball sucks
   155. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:22 PM (#4185657)
I hate being so smart.
   156. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:23 PM (#4185660)
Beaton beateth himself. What a wild, crazy freaking game!!
   157. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:24 PM (#4185662)
Spoke too soon?

If only. I'm not a loony fan, but I still had a nightmare about that game like 3 years ago.
   158. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:24 PM (#4185663)
To my Mets fan friends here: sorry, and I know this sucks -- I watched Henry Rodriguez do something far worse against the Cincinnati Reds earlier this year, so I get it. But these Game Chatters are so much more fun when there's a bunch of us here, especially fans of both teams.

See you tomorrow! Karma will surely punish the Nats for the way they stole this one!
   159. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:24 PM (#4185664)

If you haven't left yet -- what happened?
   160. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:25 PM (#4185665)
Wiki does it better, one sec, I'll paste it.
   161. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:27 PM (#4185668)
Here.

A guy across the street told me the next day he had considered calling the police because he thought I was cursing at a human being that I might be near to killing.
   162. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:28 PM (#4185669)
I mean, Wiki has no poetry, but as a baseball fan, insert your best writer telling the story.
   163. JJ1986 Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:30 PM (#4185673)
It was so much worse because the Mets had already come back from being down 5-0 in the first (a mammoth Piazza home run was the tying blow).
   164. Lassus Posted: July 17, 2012 at 10:38 PM (#4185677)
Hmmmm..... did Eso ask and then leave? Boo!
   165. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 17, 2012 at 11:49 PM (#4185721)
I never left!
   166. Moe Greene Posted: July 18, 2012 at 12:52 AM (#4185741)
I watched Henry Rodriguez do something far worse against the Cincinnati Reds earlier this year...

Ah, yes... the game Joey Votto went out of his mind. Needless to say, that was this Reds fan's favorite game of the year so far.

Based on the comments, it looks like I missed a fantastic game here.
