GREETINGS EARTHLINGS

I'd say if we can contribute to the misery of the Cubs fans, it will be a successful day.

Sorry guys, unless you're the Pirates, no one escapes my bile.
   2. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 06:34 PM (#3307842)
A-Ram is awfully bald for a man his age. I guess being perpetually underrated will do that to you.
   3. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 06:36 PM (#3307844)
Frenchy has made consistent, hard contact. That double was an absolute laser.
   4. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 06:40 PM (#3307850)
Well, that was very Metsian.
   5. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 06:50 PM (#3307863)
Frenchy's range is average at best. A great RF gets that.
   6. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:02 PM (#3307879)
Way to capitalize, guys.
   7. twon8 Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:09 PM (#3307888)
Is there any rational basis to not start Nick Evans today? If Jerry isn't going to play him against lefties they should have kept him in AAA.
   8. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:10 PM (#3307889)
Jerry is inherently irrational.

I'm in favor of Angel Pagan, starting CF, 2010 Mets.
   9. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:14 PM (#3307893)
That's just dreadful. Soriano's contract is such a disaster. 18M from 2010-14.
   10. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:18 PM (#3307895)
Cole Hamels would believe in a chiropractor.
   11. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:28 PM (#3307908)
HAHA. Heilman's sore at Castillo for breaking up his no hitter with that infield dribbler back in 2005.
   12. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:42 PM (#3307930)
I'm not sure if Misch looks good or if the Cubs just suck.
   13. Anonymous Observer Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:44 PM (#3307934)
I'm not sure if Misch looks good or if the Cubs just suck.

It's the Cubs, and you still aren't sure?
   14. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:44 PM (#3307936)
Misch has been lucky. The Cubs have hit several balls very hard that were turned into outs by virtue of good defense/fortune.
   15. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:56 PM (#3307947)
The replay option has severely weakened the umpires.

Boo.
   16. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 07:58 PM (#3307949)
Wooohooo Muprhy.
   17. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:00 PM (#3307951)
Cohen nailed it. Five line drives caught for outs.
   18. SteveM. Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:07 PM (#3307955)
For professional singers, the Plain White T's can't carry a tune.
   19. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:08 PM (#3307956)
The who?
   20. SteveM. Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:09 PM (#3307958)
The "Hey there Deliha" group. I am an old man-Eddie Vedder who sang earlier this week is more my cup of tea.
   21. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:18 PM (#3307970)
Time to shut Soriano down for the season. That knee is shot.
   22. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:18 PM (#3307971)
Vedder did one hell of a job with "All The Way". You can tell he really loves the Cubs.

Soriano looks so hobbled running in the OF.
   23. SUBJ is growing his playoff beard Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:21 PM (#3307976)
I think I could outrun Soriano in a 40-yard dash at this point, and no one's ever confused me with Andruw Jones in the outfield, even in Little League.
   24. SouthSideRyan Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:21 PM (#3307977)

Even if we weren't out of it, he should be shut down. He's actively hurting the team playing on it. I'm cautiously optimistic he'll back around '07-'08 levels after surgery.

The first time I heard that song last year I teared up a little. Mock me as you will.
   26. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:23 PM (#3307981)
Lou is a god damn idiot. Yank the guy who's been cruising all day in favor of the guy who served up a MEATBALL to Frenchy back in Atlanta that still hasn't landed.
   27. SUBJ is growing his playoff beard Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:23 PM (#3307982)
All of the salary the Cubs are paying Soriano, Soto, and Miles this second half should instead be split up amongst Lilly, Harden, Wells, and Gorzo. Those guys have put in yeoman's work the past few weeks (yesterday excepted) with nothing to show for it wins-wise.
   28. SouthSideRyan Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:24 PM (#3307983)
I love that song. Lin Bremer gave an awesome intro to the song whenever he played.

####### playoffs, that sucked more than '03s.
   29. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:24 PM (#3307984)
It's been an awful campaign for Soriano, but I agree with SSR that we should expect a 2010 more in line with his first two seasons with the Cubs. He's not cooked, just hurt.
   30. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:26 PM (#3307989)
What a shocking turn of events. Gregg serves up a MONSTER flyball.
   31. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:27 PM (#3307990)
Tatis!

Bad day for Sori.
   32. SteveM. Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:27 PM (#3307991)
Soriano needs to be shut down. That is the 3rd play out there that he screwed up. Besides, Jake Fox needs to play.
   33. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:30 PM (#3307994)
I've said it once, but I'll repeat: I fear for Bradley's health any time he needs to advance two bases.
   34. Sweet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:32 PM (#3307999)
Milton now with a .963 home OPS on the year. Hard to hate that.
   35. SouthSideRyan Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:32 PM (#3308000)
Who's the first media member to say Bradley only pads his stats when the games don't matter?
   36. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:32 PM (#3308001)
Why would you pitch to Ramirez with first open?
   37. SteveM. Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:32 PM (#3308002)
Aramis comes through!!
   38. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:35 PM (#3308004)
Nice sell by Baker to coax the walk. I thought he went.
   39. SouthSideRyan Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:36 PM (#3308007)
I've said it once, but I'll repeat: I fear for Bradley's health any time he needs to advance two bases.

Ordinarly, I'd agree, but we're playing the Mets. No way one of our guys go down until 5 of theirs do first.
   40. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:38 PM (#3308008)
Naturally this was the first game ALL YEAR I had Soriano benched.
   41. SteveM. Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:38 PM (#3308009)
Ok, Soriano just made up for all three screwups.
   42. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:38 PM (#3308010)
Naturally this was the first game ALL YEAR I had Soriano benched.
   43. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:38 PM (#3308011)
Remember the days when we were angry Stokes wasn't pitching?
   44. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:39 PM (#3308013)
Hanging slider. Well done, Bwian.
   45. SouthSideRyan Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:40 PM (#3308014)
Why don't more teams play Friday day baseball?

(Besides the fact that the other 85% of the world is out working.)
   46. SouthSideRyan Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:42 PM (#3308015)
Elemer Dessens?? If you gave me 10 guesses, I don't think I coulda told you he was on the Mets.
   47. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:43 PM (#3308018)
Seriously an 0-2 strike to Sori? What the hell year is this, Stokes?
   48. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:44 PM (#3308019)
Dessens is only here to get his ten years service and the full pension that comes with it.

At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

No way one of our guys go down until 5 of theirs do first.

It's the Chicago way.
   50. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:49 PM (#3308024)
So the WBC ###### up Marmol too, eh?
   51. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:52 PM (#3308027)
Marmol just ate Reed's lunch.
   52. SteveM. Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:54 PM (#3308028)
Cubs win. Thank God for the Mets bullpen.
   53. Lassus Posted: August 28, 2009 at 08:54 PM (#3308030)
This is so not going to be what happens when I own the Mets.
   54. Jon Egypt Posted: August 28, 2009 at 09:01 PM (#3308039)

I was at the Vic for the first (and only) time that song was played live and I was most definitely moved. And I'm a Cards fan.
