Jeremy Reed over Nick Evans? WHY?!
   2. Lassus Posted: August 30, 2009 at 06:24 PM (#3309187)
OK, the goal for today is to make Zambrano so angry that he somehow ends up getting arrested before the game's over.

Another bad decision by Murphy.

Woohooo!

The deke almost got Pagan, though.

So Zambrano apparently just threw a pitch fairly right-down-to-middle to Jeffy F. (I honestly still can't spell his last name, despite the 300 threads this season.) So, serious question: if pitchers just completely stopped throwing him strikes, would Jeff have at least the discipline to start laying off? 'Cause if I was a pitcher, I'd never throw him a strike. Ever.

Cause if I was a pitcher, I'd never throw him a strike. Ever.

Pitchers make mistakes and lately he's been very, very good at hitting the tar out of them.

Hey, Carlos Zambrano kinda sucks this season for the money he's making.
   8. SUBJ is growing his playoff beard Posted: August 30, 2009 at 07:22 PM (#3309218)
This is fairly stunning.

What is this ########'s problem? Eleven hits through 3.1 innings to a team that's an injury away from having the guy in the third row play left field for them.

What's up with his velocity? Where is the FB at 93-95?
   11. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 30, 2009 at 07:27 PM (#3309222)
Probably still hurt. I can't vent too much in a thread with Mets fans about injury, but the Cubs are sure paying this season for a healthy 2008.

Do your lefty killing business, Frenchy.

I think it might be time to begin "Operation: Shutdown 2 (Electric Boogaloo)" and put Gorzo back into the rotation. I'm serious. There's either something physically (dead arm, back, actual arm injury) or mentally (besides the usual looniness) wrong with Zambrano right now, and I don't think throwing him out there every 5 days to get his brains beat in is the best idea right now.

"Hey (insert name here) kinda sucks this season for the money he's making" should be the tagline for the 2009 Chicago Cubs season.

BTW: trying to convince non-Cub fans that Milton Bradley really has been bad this year and deserving of our scorn (in the "Racism" thread) is a lot harder than I honestly thought it would be.
   16. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 30, 2009 at 07:42 PM (#3309231)
He's been a flop, no doubt. He's getting paid to drive in runs. He's a really good table-setter as it's turned out, but that's a lot of cash to be dropping on a guy who just walks a lot.

I agree about shutting Zambrano down. If scores hold, it'll be 10 games with four weeks to play. If they're talking about dealing Harden, they need to just shut down Z and see what they have with Gorz.

As Reed cracks a ball off his right shin...

Nelson Figueroa, #2 Starter!

What the hell has gotten in to Figueroa?

Tinker to Evers to Chance.

NOT.

Mets win and Dubs due back Tuesday... GOOD NEWS!
   25. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: August 30, 2009 at 08:52 PM (#3309275)
Gonna be weird to have September be utterly useless after the last two seasons.
   26. AJM Posted: August 30, 2009 at 08:54 PM (#3309277)
Victory!
