Uh oh, it's the dreaded third game to get the sweep that we haven't been able to win all year. What do you say we win the last game for once boys?
   2. Lassus Posted: May 27, 2012 at 08:51 PM (#4141440)
So it's terrible if I root solely for injuries, right?
   3. PS is probably making an obscure reference Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:00 PM (#4141444)
Does the umpire count?
   4. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:19 PM (#4141448)
This is basically our moment right here. If the Nats can't get any runs in with the bases loaded and nobody out against Beachy, they're not winning this game.

For whatever reason, I'm not optimistic.

Okay, I'm not watching the game, only listening...was it smart for Bo Porter to hold Desmond at third? Because Diaz doesn't really have a great arm, and Gio Gonzalez isn't exactly gonna light Beachy on fire.
   6. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:22 PM (#4141450)
I was very surprised that they held Desmond there. He's fast, Diaz doesn't throw well, and pitcher due up. Seemed strange, but I'm not sure what kind of jump Desmond had from 2nd.
   7. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:22 PM (#4141451)
Wow, way to go with the sac fly, Gio!

I love the fact that our pitchers are actually not completely useless at the plate.
   8. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:23 PM (#4141452)
Moot point.
   9. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:23 PM (#4141453)
The real takeaway for me from Beachy is that, while he's a crafty pitcher, he's thrown an uncomfortable number of balls. Very wild. Dunno if this is typical for him.
   10. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:28 PM (#4141455)
Beachy always has high pitch counts. Lots of Ks and lots of deep counts. He's a 6 inning pitcher, mostly.
   11. Lassus Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:30 PM (#4141456)
This game would have to speed up to be at a snail's pace.
   12. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:41 PM (#4141457)
Beachy has benefited from a number of generous strikezone calls today. That last called strike three to Desmond (which was several inches off the plate on the inside) is only the most recent example.
   13. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:52 PM (#4141459)
Livan into a tie game? That's....interesting...
   14. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:53 PM (#4141460)
This has the potential to be immensely entertaining.

I don't underestimate Livo, btw....guy has a way of making people look foolish with 70 mph eephus pitches.
   15. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 09:59 PM (#4141463)
Livan looks awful, even for him.
   16. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:03 PM (#4141464)
Nothing warms my heart like hearing the Braves fans boo their own team in Atlanta. Lombardozzi!
   17. Lassus Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4141465)
Can you really put Livan being a corpse on him? Seems more the fault of Atlanta's brilliant brain trust for running him out there.
   18. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4141466)
Livo may be washed up, but I have to say there is something beautiful about watching gifted Major League hitters swing helplessly through his slow curves.
   19. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:07 PM (#4141467)
Jason Heyward: defensive genius.
   20. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:09 PM (#4141469)
Ha! Jason Heyward just can't catch a break! And now he's catching the boo-birds from the fans.
   21. Lassus Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:19 PM (#4141470)
This chatter requires Sam Hutcheson.
   22. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:20 PM (#4141471)
Gio Gonzalez is getting better as the game goes on. And no thanks to Kerwin Daniel's ridiculous strike zone, too.
   23. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:20 PM (#4141472)
This chatter requires Sam Hutcheson.
He has been conspicuously absent all weekend long. Either he's at the games or he's cowering in shame at the spanking the Nats (who he keeps dismissing as a crap team) have dropped on the Braves.
   24. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:21 PM (#4141473)
Are the Braves normally this hapless a defensive team?
   25. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:24 PM (#4141476)
OH NO.

IF FLORES IS INJURED I WILL BREAK SOMEONE IN PIECES.
   26. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:25 PM (#4141477)
Flores is hurt now? For real?
   27. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:27 PM (#4141479)
Nobody really knows whether he's hurt yet. Walked off looking fine under his own power, radio guys speculated (hopefully) that he was just feeling light-headed from the heat & exertion.

God I hope so. I am SO F**KING TIRED of the injuries. Especially to our catchers.
   28. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:37 PM (#4141485)
Gio Gonzalez now has 10 strikeouts, and he ought to have 11 and maybe 12 if not for Kerwin friggin' Daniel.
   29. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:41 PM (#4141487)
Harper is so ####### good.
   30. The Yankee Clapper Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:42 PM (#4141488)
The Legend grows.
   31. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:43 PM (#4141490)
Harper up to a 143 wRC+ after that home run. At age 19.
   32. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:46 PM (#4141494)
I'm so glad he's on our team.
   33. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:50 PM (#4141495)
Gio Gonzalez this year: 61.2 IP, 33 hits allowed, 79 strikeouts.

Remember when people said he was merely a product of Oakland's ballpark, and that it was a terrible signing for the Nationals? Yeah. He's pitcher of the month in the NL, easily, after tonight's performance.
   34. Dan Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:54 PM (#4141497)
They should offer Harper a 15 year contract tomorrow.
   35. Lassus Posted: May 27, 2012 at 10:56 PM (#4141499)
Flores brought an injury bug with him from the Mets org.
   36. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: May 27, 2012 at 11:00 PM (#4141501)
Yeah, we're not going to be hearing Hutcheson's big stupid mouth for a while I think after this humiliating weekend-long beat down.
   37. The Yankee Clapper Posted: May 27, 2012 at 11:08 PM (#4141506)
A loss tonight makes it a 7 game losing streak for Atlanta.
