For ##### sake did they give up on making the ####### chatters for the right games and days?
   2. Lassus Posted: July 26, 2012 at 09:53 PM (#4193228)
Anyhow, Matt Harvey is here to start our 15-game winning streak.
   3. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2012 at 09:56 PM (#4193231)
That's a pretty good start.

Entering today's game, Jason Bay is hitting .122/.189/.245 since coming back from the DL. He probably won't improve on that line today.
   5. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4193238)
This is considerably more enjoyable than a Miguel Batista start.

I would be more than happy to participate in a replay of the Nats/Mets game if you guys are game!

Seriously though, somebody needs to reboot the Primer Chimp's software.

If the pitching thing doesn't work out, he can hit cleanup instead.

Wow, I didn't realize how low the Met payroll was this year. They are down to 94 million this year after being at 140 million in 2011.

Honestly, the Mets need to be thinking about building for 2014 and beyond.
   9. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4193250)
Just to add on to 8, the Twins are at 100 million.
   10. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:30 PM (#4193269)
And the Nats are at $88 million.

Gotta love cheap young talent.

Gotta love cheap young talent.

The Nats sucked for a long time and got really lucky in that they got the first pick in the draft when Strasburg and Harper were available.

No disagreement here. Almost cosmic levels of good fortune there.

He's averaging over 2 bases per hit! Showing power!!

Harvey has better stuff than I was expecting, but I don't follow Mets minor leaguers especially closely.
   14. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:43 PM (#4193281)
Siddown! This kid has definitely got the stuff to make it. I'm sure he'll struggle at times, but there's a lot of good to work with here.
   15. Dan Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:43 PM (#4193283)
Pretty rare to see a mid-season call up get a real number immediately too. I know the Red Sox basically give any pitcher they call up something in the 60s. But Harvey's already got #33. A sign that the Mets expect him to stick?
   16. Dan Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:47 PM (#4193286)
What was the point of Hill cutting that throw?
   17. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:47 PM (#4193287)
Yeah, clearly the intent is that Harvey's in the bigs for good.
   18. Dan Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:50 PM (#4193290)
That was a hell of a throw. If he'd had the momentum behind him too, he could've uncorked something incredible there.

John Maine had his moments but I hope Harvey leaves a more lasting mark as a Met.

I can't hear Ron Darling on MLB.tv, so it sounds like Keith and Gary are just talking to themselves.
   21. Dan Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:57 PM (#4193297)
It's like Garfield without Garfield. Gary Cohen and Ron Darling announcing a game without Ron Darling.
   22. Dan Posted: July 26, 2012 at 10:58 PM (#4193299)
Sorry. Garfield minus Garfield.
   23. Dan Posted: July 26, 2012 at 11:08 PM (#4193312)
They're already talking about a personal catcher in the kid's first start?
   24. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: July 26, 2012 at 11:16 PM (#4193319)
A++ for Harvey. Happy to have something to look forward to.
   25. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 26, 2012 at 11:32 PM (#4193331)
Pretty damn impressive debut for this kid tonight.
   26. Esoteric throws a 'hard slider' Posted: July 26, 2012 at 11:33 PM (#4193332)
Shame about the Mets bullpen that might give it all back, though.
   27. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: July 27, 2012 at 12:44 AM (#4193367)
Parnell needs to lock this one down. It'd be a big letdown not to get the kid the W.
   28. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: July 27, 2012 at 12:49 AM (#4193368)
Not a good start, Robert.
   29. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: July 27, 2012 at 12:58 AM (#4193373)
What are the chances Kubel goes yard here?
   30. Russlan is fond of Dillon Gee Posted: July 27, 2012 at 01:01 AM (#4193376)
Congrats to Matt Harvey on his first W. Maybe it be the first of 300 or so in a Met uniform.
