So 13 innings tonight?
   2. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 08:02 PM (#4203829)
I sure hope not, but if that's what it takes to win, that's what it takes!
   3. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 08:14 PM (#4203841)
Time to tell our guys to start listening to Porter. You're not going to get lucky every time doing nonsense like that.
   4. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 08:20 PM (#4203848)
Could you imagine if LaRoche had hit a three run homer on that balk instead of a sac fly?
   5. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 08:42 PM (#4203863)
HA-HAAAA, that's what you get for drilling our catcher, you punk!
   6. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 09:14 PM (#4203876)
Harper ought to break hit bad on Angel Hernandez's solar plexus.
   7. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 09:14 PM (#4203877)
Um, "break HIS BAT"
   8. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 09:15 PM (#4203878)
Breaking news flash: Angel Hernandez still sucks.
   9. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 09:20 PM (#4203880)
ANGEL HERNANDEZ MUST BE STOPPED.

Use Seal Team Six if necessary.
   10. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 09:43 PM (#4203887)
OK, time to score some more runs here.
   11. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 09:52 PM (#4203892)
We're certainly getting plenty on men on base tonight. One more big bomb should put this one away.
   12. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 09:58 PM (#4203896)
From bases loaded and nobody out to (likely) nobody scoring. That's the story of the Nats in Houston right there in a nutshell.
   13. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:01 PM (#4203897)
Oh great, another Angel Hernandez special.
   14. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4203899)
Dammit!! Harper just cannot get untracked to save his life.
   15. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:02 PM (#4203902)
Actually, Gameday has that as a fair strike.

And now Harper just struck out on a called strike in the exact same position. Harper is close to losing it, and I hate Angel Hernandez, but those are actually legit strikes. He needs to get ahold of himself.

Depressing outcome, however. The Elevator is right: we're going to 13 tonight.
   16. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4203904)
I don't know what the hell is wrong with the kid, refusing to swing. Does he seriously think he's going to get the call?
   17. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:05 PM (#4203905)
Something has occurred to me: while the Gameday zone shows those called strikes to Harper as legit, they aren't if other players aren't getting them called on them. I don't know myself, will have to check.
   18. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4203907)
Checking back on Gameday, Harper doesn't seem to have much to complain about. Which surprises and dismays me, as I had reflexively taken his side over Angel Hernandez. Kid needs to make adjustments.
   19. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:08 PM (#4203908)
Actually, that walk to Justin Maxwell -- that was definitely a bullsh*t walk right there.
   20. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:10 PM (#4203909)
Hernandez is just the absolute worst of the worst. But nevertheless, when Harper is up 3-0 and 3-1 in a situation like that, he should be thinking about clearing some bases, not praying that he gets walked.
   21. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:16 PM (#4203912)
If we can't score WITH A RUNNER ON THIRD AND NOBODY OUT then holy sh*t we are now the Jack Morris of batting lineups: we "hit to the score."
   22. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:17 PM (#4203913)
My god, it's actually going to happen again. We're really not going to score.
   23. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:19 PM (#4203916)
We did it! It took a patented Astros fielding error, but we finally scored again!
   24. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:19 PM (#4203917)
Bailed out again by Lastro suckitude.
   25. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:28 PM (#4203919)
It would be HUGE if Nat Gio could actually do a complete game here.
   26. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:29 PM (#4203921)
Don't want to jinx anything here, but the way Gio is pitching right now he's potentially in line for the CG, which the Nats desperately need after the last two nights.
   27. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:30 PM (#4203923)
Ah, it seems Joey already beat me to the bad mojo.
   28. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:33 PM (#4203925)
Hilariously, Bryce Harper got a complete gift from Angel Hernandez on ball four of that walk right there.
   29. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:43 PM (#4203930)
Why do I have a bad feeling that we're not going to get out of the 8th inning alive?
   30. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:45 PM (#4203932)
Ah, my mooing and moaning was all unneeded.
   31. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:51 PM (#4203936)
I'm trying to remember our last CG. It has been quite a while now.
   32. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 10:55 PM (#4203938)
I'm trying to remember our last CG. It has been quite a while now.
Edwin Jackson earlier this season, I think.
   33. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:00 PM (#4203942)
Oh, GREAT job, Bryce.
   34. fra paolo Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:01 PM (#4203944)
Oh dear.
   35. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:01 PM (#4203945)
We're due to lose one of these games -- looks like now's going to be the time.

   36. Esoteric Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:02 PM (#4203946)
THANK GOD.

And see, that's why I do my whole "relentless negativity" thing. Reverse lock.
   37. fra paolo Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:03 PM (#4203948)
That was more exciting than it needed to be.
   38. BourbonSamurai Is a Lazy Nogoodnik Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:03 PM (#4203949)
aaaaugh
   39. Joey B. is being stalked by a (Gonfa) loon Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:03 PM (#4203950)
Had 'em all the way baby!!!
   40. TerpNats Posted: August 08, 2012 at 11:11 PM (#4203955)
Going for a four-game road sweep tomorrow, while the rest of metro D.C. is engrossed in an exhibition football game. Fools.
