Once again, this game is NOT for the pennant, but for the division. Let's do it men!!

This umpire f*cking sucks.

I have never cared for the Cardinals all that much, and this isn't causing me to reconsider my opinion.

I must say, though, I heard Slowes and Jageler having more to say about yesterday's plate umpire than today's.

Today's trivia:

Lastings Milledge became a National on 30 November 2007. But Bowden put in an one-player-straight-up offer for him the year before. What Baseball-America-Nationals-top-10-Prospect was offered?

Answer at the end of the game.

Harper gets a rouge!
   7. Joey B. has ignited his October #Natitude Posted: September 30, 2012 at 03:34 PM (#4249362)
"He's going to end the season as roughly a league average player."

-Something that some stupid schmuck on this web site actually said about Harper

This seems to have been Detwiler's first appearance with Guccione behind the plate. From the penthouse to the outhouse as far as Nats' fans are concerned!

Oh yes! An Espy!

There's no easy way to tell on bb-ref, but it looks to me like this is the first Nationals game in which Guccione has been the home-plate umpire.

Guccione should go back to his previous job of running Penthouse Magazine.
   13. fra paolo Posted: September 30, 2012 at 03:55 PM (#4249374)
*That* is annoying.
   14. fra paolo Posted: September 30, 2012 at 05:24 PM (#4249422)
Silver lining = now Nats' fans get to see the chaps clinch at home.

Trivia answer:

Jim Bowden offered Prospect Mike Hinckley to the Mets for Lastings Milledge according to an mlb.com article dated 12 Dec 2006. Hinckley had been ranked 6th in the Nationals system by the 2006 BA Prospect Handbook, Milledge was ranked #1 in the Mets' system. Neither player retained their position for the 2007 prospect book. Milledge wasn't ranked (having put up a 78 OPS+ in 185 PA during '06), while Hinckley had fallen to #30 in the BA 2007 Top 30, not having survived posterior capsule relief surgery during the 05/06 season very well.

Actually, that should be 4 Dec.
